College students

Is anyone having a hard time with concentrating...I feel like this past week my brains has gone on vacation -.- My semester ends beginning of may so I so t have long left. However, my brain does not agree >.<. Is anyone taking summer classes? I'm trying to decide if I should bother or just take the break with the new baby. If I did take a class it's only be one or two (a 2/3 credit hour course)

Re: College students

  • I'm in school now but will not be taking summer classes. I think I will use that time to adjust. It is really hard getting things done but my professors are pretty cool with giving me a little extra time

  • You aren't alone. I am getting my certificate in administration (I already have my masters in curriculum and instruction) and I finish in May, thank goodness. I have a paper due in the middle of March. I started it today because I knew that I wouldn't be able to focus on it or have any attention span for it.

    Good luck!
  • I I'm currently taking 4 online classes. This semester also ends beginning of May. I try to get ahead that way I'll be done with everything before baby comes, but it just seems impossible. :( I've felt more tired now than any other time in this pregnancy. I'm also debating on taking a break this summer and going back in fall, pretty positive I will skip the summer though!
  • I'm in school now and I can't concentrate either. Luckily, my semester ends March 19, but starts again in April. I took really easy online classes for that semester.

  • I'm in a program that does one class at a time, but doesn't take breaks besides holidays. I'm doing okay with it for now, the class I just started seems like it's going to be the hardest so far, so things might change in the next month. I'm not taking any time off because it would mean having to restart in a year.

  • Yeah mine is online as well, and one course is on a monthly deadline, one on a weekly, and the rest are self paced. 4 total I'm not a fan I like weekly due dates I feel like I don't procrastinate as much. At least I'm not the only one >.<.

  • Luckily, my school has quarters, and my current one just ended, because I am just too exhausted to care anymore! I am taking at least one summer class, which starts the middle of June. :-/

I was taking classes for my masters when pregnant with DD and then after DD was born.  I took as many classes as I could before she was born, then took the semester during which she was born off, and picked up after she was born.  I would take as many classes before baby comes as possible.  As soon as I had DD I had zero interest in school and if I wasn't already so far along I'm not sure I would have finished!  It's amazing how quickly priorities can turn around.

  • I was a full-time graduate student while pregnant with the twins and for the first 2 years of their lives. Due to the hospital bedrest, I received incompletes in all my classes for winter quarter, took spring quarter off to adjust, took online classes over the summer to maintain financial aid, and was full-time every single quarter after that until graduation. It was grueling, but worth it. I actually found that my grades improved after the boys arrived and I was able to manage my time better (because I had no choice!). That being said, I would very much recommend taking the first quarter/semester off with LO to adjust. There's nothing worse than having homework while dealing with a baby who needs to be fed/diapered every 3hrs or so!

  • Thanks ladies for the opinions! Ill more than likely take the summer off then. My three year old will be in school 3/4 days a week during the fall so I know that will help a TON.
