Frank Breech

I had my 37 week sono and baby is frank breech. They are going to try and manually turn him Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. My fluid was also measuring at 6.9. My OB said I had about a 50/50 chance of it working. If he doesn't turn then she will schedule a c section. Any other ladies going through the same thing? Have they been successful at turning your lo? She mentioned that it can be very painful and recommended I get an epidural for the turn.

No experience, but I have heard from ladies I know personally have had luck with chiropractic care and accupuncture. You could look for professionals in your area who specialize in pregnancy and/or breech babies. Also spinning babies website has a lot of wonderful tips and exercises for it. I hope that helps you, good luck on turning your babe!

My baby is currently transverse with one leg up near her head and the other near her butt! My ob doesn't want to risk me having a placental hemorrhage since it's anterior. She can deliver breech babies so I need lo to turn but I'm afraid she's stuck where she is and I'll probably end up needing a section.

MY first was frank breech and we tried an external breech version. It didn't work for us, doc got baby transverse twice but couldn't her her all the way. It was not fun for me, but I'm glad I tried. I was not offered an epidural but they did give me something to relax my uterus. We ended up with a csec and a very healthy baby with no lasting issues from Being frank breech!

My LO is currently footling breech and we have a c section scheduled for 21st March. I'm currently trying a chiropractor for the websters technique. Is there a maximum fluid level they will try turning/version at? I'm at 12. I was a breech baby and was turned twice and went back

, so if LO is as stubborn as mummy I don't hold out much hope.

I have a very squirmy baby!! Within two weeks she has been footling breech, then vertex, frank breech, and now vertex again- I think she still is anyway. My last sono was Thursday. I have a section scheduled for 3/10- just in case she is in a breech presentation at that time. I continue to use chiro, hot and cold packs....I guess It worked but not for long because she just goes where she wants! I also have on the high end of amniotic fluid which makes it easy for her to keep flipping! I would love to avoid a c section as this is my fourth babe- but whatever brings her to us healthy we are ok with!! Good luck- hope your LO gets in the right position!!

Hi! I don't post on here often but thought I'd come check things out. Our babe has been frank breech for over a month now - I have a high risk pregnancy so have been getting weekly ultrasounds for the past month. Last week I was very uncomfortable and thought I could be in labor. They did an internal and found I was 30% effaced and that baby's bum is wedged pretty well down in my pelvis. We have a c-section scheduled for the 13th. They aren't going to do a version because baby's measuring pretty small. I would have refused one anyway. I've heard mixed things about chiropractor - to stay away when preggo and from others that they can be very helpful. I tempted to try and see if it would help anything.

I don't know exactly what type of breech my baby is but head is definitely up. We are trying the version on Tuesday and at my hospital they do no pain meds for it maybe a muscle relaxant but that's it. We also have a csection scheduled (which we can cancel) for the following week since the version is only 50/50.

I was in the same boat as you. My baby was frank breech and my amniotic fluid was low. Once my fluid reached 5, we scheduled a c section. With low fluid it was just too dangerous to wait or try to move her position. I had a csection on feb 18th & she is healthy:)

I was scheduled for a version but the appt just prior to it she had flipped (she was breech for at least 3 weeks prior to that). I was 37w4d.

I tried: websters method chiropractor, swimming and touching the bottom of a pool, rebozo sifting then straight to breech tilt (see spinning babies. my tilt was more me laying on my bed with pillows propping my hips up above my shoulders), hot/cold packs on bottom/top, talking to baby lol. Walking more. I also cut out all pop/coffee and amped up my H2o intake (going from 30ish oz to 50ish oz a day)

note: I asked my nurse if I upped my water intake if that would affect my sac fluid levels and maybe give baby more room and she said that was sound logic and that yes more water should lead to higher fluid levels.

An epidural doesn't make sense for a version? you don't need to be numb from the waist down... Just the stuff to relax your uterus plus a general pain med for when they're pushing baby around. I actually don't think it would be that painful just uncomfortable. Pain meds would help you stay relaxed though.

My baby was breech with a normal level, but on the lower end of fluid. I had a ECV at 36+1 week which was unsuccessful.The doctors got his butt up but his head would not go down. I got drugs to relax my uterus, but no pain meds. And although it was not the most pleasant experience, I definitely didn't need pain medicine. When they press on your belly it is a bit painful but it only lasts less than 5-10min. At this point we scheduled a c section for the 12th which would be 39+3. I then stopped everthing i was doing to try and turn him, bc i was sick of lying upside down and putting cold peas on my stomach. I was pleasantly suprised though at my regular checkup at 37+4 that he had turned head down all on his own. The doctor will cancel the c section if he is still head down at my next weekly appt. He is still very high so he could flip again, i am hoping he drops so his head gets stuck down.

My LO was frank breech until my version last night.
They gave me a couple spritzes of nitro to relax my uterus.
It was uncomfortable...then painful where my belly is most sensitive. Then I nearly cried when LO sat upright. Right under my belly button. (Like bum on my back and head straight up)

Doctor and nurses laughed.
Wish I got a pic because it was very weird to see. The pain of that actually made me rather queasy.

I still feel a little off, but I blame it on LO's position, and him/her trying to get comfy.

(And maybe this is why I felt so lousy when pregnant with my other two...because I felt fabulous while this LO was breech. Now I feel like crap.

Thanks for all the insight ladies. I'm checking out spinning babies and we'll see how that goes. Baby measured 8lbs 1 oz at 37 weeks (I know it can be off). I had low fluid with my daughter also and I increased my water with her and the fluid level went up but who knows if the increase in drinking water was the reason. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what my little one decides to do

I was Frank breech and last Wednesday had my external version procedure. Be prepared.... It's painful. Remember to focus on your breathing and have someone there to hold your hand. My doctor was only able to get my little guy to move half way. He is now transverse. I felt extremely emotional afterward. I want a normal delivery so bad and now have to have a csection unless he moves the rest on his own. A transverse baby is also
more uncomfortable for me. Feels so different. Good luck! I really hope it works out for you.

Hi, was just wondering how you got on? Did you manage to have baby flip? I am in a similar situation to yourself. Told at 36 weeks baby is frank breech. Have been trying all sorts to try and move her but beginning to think that Frank Breech babies just are unable to manoeuvre at this point. Also have low amniotic fluid levels 6.1 so have drinking like crazy in the hope that at my next scan in couple of days it may have increased. Don't think they will attemp a ECV unless my levels are above 10. But unsure!!

I had 5 or 6 cms (can't remember exactly) and a breech son at 36 weeks. I was told to do absolutely nothing to try and turn him. With the low amniotic fluid it's very dangerous and he could easily pinch the cord. Please talk to your doctor before attempting anything else. Hopefully your fluid goes up!

They were never able to get him to turn. My fluid was a 6.9 right before they tried the ECV. My doc was comfortable with that number. I had an epidural and the procedure was performed in the OR as a precaution. Because he didn't turn I had a c section 3 days before my due date. He came out weighing 10lbs 10oz so that might explain why he didn't move.
