Update! Baby feels lower and lots of pelvic pressure

When I woke up yesterday and today baby felt lower and heavier than previous. I have a Doppler and checked heartbeat and sure enough baby was a few inches down lower than he has been for the past few weeks.

It is way too early for baby to drop and I am reading pelvic pressure is a sign of preterm labor which is worrying. I called the dr who says she is not worried but I still am. Anyone experience anything similar? I usually carry pretty high and my bump is still very high.

My doctor always commented on how this baby was very high in the first half of my pregnancy. Last week I needed an internal exam and she could feel just how very low the baby's had was. It worried me that she was head down and so low so early, but the doctor wasn't concerned. They're still so little at this point, they'll move back and forth, most likely.

And I'm pretty sure pelvic pressure comes with a low sitting baby. Perfectly normal!

Thanks everyone, dr. Google was not reassuring me. Signs of preterm labor can be so vague. I just want this guy to stay put for another few months!

This has happened to me a few times. I just take it easy those days and lay down with my butt propped up on a pillow to encourage baby to move and drink lots of water. Its helped and she repositions herself.
  • Great advice!
  • I get this sometimes and worried too. Nothing bad has happened yet. I'm sure you're good as long as you aren't feeling pain.

At my anatomy scan I swear my LO was trying to burrow into my cervix. They move around so much at this point. I wouldn't worry.

Yup, this was how our guy is. He's constantly boxing my cervix. Some days I have more pressure than others. It's become normal to me.

  • It is seriously uncomfortable now. I feel like I have to pee every two minutes and bending over makes me gasp for breath. I'd much rather him be high.

First of all, glad you came back to check responses instead of posting and running. Secondly happens to me all the time. One minute I'm fine next the baby is super low and I feel a TON of pressure. Try changing your position. Lay down, side to side, feet up etc. it should help the baby shift positions and take some pressure off of you.

  • Both of my kids enjoy hanging out the lowest depths of my ute. They are dark and twisty like their mother. It is uncomfortable :/ But if your doctor isn't worried, I wouldn't worry. Hope baby is nice to you soon and moves around to a more comfortable place.

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

  • This LO of mine seems to like it down low near my cervix. Some days i can barely walk because he's pushing so hard on my cervix or sitting on a bad nerve. Isn't pregnancy awesome?! Lol
  • almost everyday.  @ first I thought i was having contractions from all the pressure, but no, just baby chilling down there.

  • I felt the same way. Baby girl's kicks are literally in my pagina area so I looked up where the baby lies around 23-24 weeks and it makes sense.

Glad you called the doctor though!
  • Not to be the alarmist here but when DS #1 was low and I felt pelvic pressure at 28 weeks my OB sent me to labor and delivery. Turns out I was contracting and was 2 cm dilated.

When in doubt go see your doctor. Nothing is never to small to get checked out, especially when you're pregnant!

  • I don't love the fact you were dilated, but I agree. I thought mine was just low too.

  • Mine has been laying low since about 19 weeks and was told not to walk around too much. Until now baby is still low! DR is not worried about it. It is very uncomfortable. I really wish he would move up at least up to the side of my belly button or below my belly button! :(
