Re: Bi-Weekly Wine and Cheese Party

  • Check in: I had another appointment this morning that was miles above what my other appointments have been. My doctor is seeing 12 eggs that she feels confident about and they have grown tremendously since Tuesday. Apparently the Menopur is doing its thing. I go back again on Monday and will probably stay on the meds thru Tuesday or Wednesday, but she is hopeful we can have a retrieval either Friday or Saturday of next week.

Like I said, the appointment went really well today, but my excitement was short-lived. It has been replaced by complete and total anxiousness. I am feeling that since we got good news today, we are bound to get catastrophic news next time. It's irrational, but nothing about any of this journey has been smooth, and I feel like any good news we get must be balanced out with something terrible happening. UG.

  • @sammer818 thanks for hosting!  I "loved it" because I'm glad you had a good appointment and the meds are doing their thing!!  YAY for eggs.  ((hugs)) for the anxiety though.  You deserve great things (as do we all) and I hope things continue to go well for you.  When's your next appointment?

Update on me:  Nothing really new.  AF showed about 10 days ago... so we're heading into our FW and DH is gone from now until next Wednesday.  He'll be home for about 2 hours on Sunday which *could* be great timing.  We'll see.  I'm not putting much weight into this cycle but it is good to have one and just clear the system [of the estrogen]!

NTTCALR:  My boss quit and everyone is going BSC.  She was a crazy person herself so I'm pumped and excited about the change but not everyone agrees with it.

    Cheers ladies!

  • @sammer818 Yay! I'm so happy that the Menopur is doing it's thing and you had a great u/s. FX that everything continues to go well, you deserve to get good news. ((hugs)) for the anxiety and that you feel that you can't have good news without bad.

@jap618 Is this your first cycle off the bench after your surgery? FX that you can get in some sexy time during your FW.

No update since my other post. I tried a different BCP than the one I had to be on last year because it caused so much nausea. This one is a little better, but it's still there. Trying to look at the silver lining in this...my skin clears up and looks fantastic when I'm on BC and I'm going to try out hot yoga. I've been putting it off in worry that it might negatively impact TTC. A little irrational I know, but I didn't want to take the risk.

  • @sammer818 - I'm so glad that your appointment went better! I'm hoping that  you continue to get good news next week and that everything goes smoothly, you deserve this. But ((hugs)) on the anxiety, it's a crappy way to feel. But when you've been let down so much, it's hard not to stress. Please keep us posted.

@jap618 - I'm so glad AF finally showed and you are now off the bench! But how unfortunate that DH is out of town during your FW. Hopefully the BDing you get in on Sunday does the trick.

@luciddreamer106 - I'm glad that these BCP's seem to be a little better than the last, although still feeling nauseated sucks. I've done hot yoga and it wasn't as bad as I was expecting! So go and enjoy!

As for me, nothing much is new. I go in on Monday and Tuesday for progesterone checks and to do my karotyping. DH will come with me on Tuesday to do his karotyping too. I'm kind of nervous about blood draws now, after my vampire appointment. The thought of needles gives me the chills. Once those two tests are out of the way, we're done until our follow up appointment on March 24th. I'm hoping March doesn't drag by, because I'm really looking forward to that appointment!

In non-TTCAL news, I'm actually doing okay right now. The beginning of this week was rough but thanks to all you ladies and your love and support, I made it through Tuesday. Since then, I've been feeling a lot calmer. Which is a nice change. I'm hoping it lasts a little while.

I'm excited for some things coming up in in the next couple of months so I am trying to just focus on those and not think about babies or TTC. I'm going on a girls weekend with my BFF the end of March and then in April I'll be visiting my parents for Easter and then heading to Seattle for a week to visit my sister!

I have been at my job for almost 4 months and we've been saving up. DH has been outside all morning clearing off the spot we are going to put a new house and I'm starting to get anxious. I'm also thinking that maybe IVF could work. Grrrr. Why can't stuff just be simple? I'm getting on my own nerves. ~X(

@sammer818 I'm glad that the menopur seems to be doing it's job. Sending all the good juju I have to you.

@jap618 fx for you and I hope you're able to get some decent bd timing in, despite yh's schedule.

@luciddreamer106 sorry bcp makes you feel ill. I I hope it continues to stay tolerable and I love that you're looking at the positivity of it with it clearing your skin up.

@jenn0021 ((Hugs)) I can't believe your f/u appt is about a month away, it'll be here before you know it.  Good luck this week with having the rest of your blood work drawn.

@jenek0123 Hi! I also hope all has been well with you.

@EKGibs I didn't know you were in the process of a new house. That's exciting! It's hard not to let yourself get the best of you.

As for me, nothing new to report. I'm CD19, still no +opk but I sure feel like I am/have ovulated.

    ***Baby Mentioned/Bitch/Rant***
Yesterday I got all stirred up. BIL's maybe-BM (baby-mama) tagged me in a FB post of a video of my maybe-nephew walking. Ummm really biatch? Then top it off, she tagged MY MOM also. I was livid - esp since I was getting a notification each time somebody liked or posted on it. And why my mom?--she has nothing to do with you. I immediately texted my MIL (dh wouldn't let me go to BIL's house or call them), then I called my MIL because I felt like my texts were coming across more bitchy instead of upset. I have no idea what happened after I got off the phone with my MIL, but by this morning the FB post was deleted completely. I did post on her post and asked her straight up why she tagged me = BM's response: so I wouldn't feel left out since she had tagged a majority of my IL's and her family. I then posted back that I thought it was weird IMO that she also tagged my mom. Then I posted a 3rd post that said if there was a way to untag me I would appreciate it because I didn't enjoy getting a notification anytime it was liked or commented on.

I'm kind of proud of myself for standing my ground.

    Hi ladies.

@sammer818 - So happy to hear you had better response. Grow eggs grow! Sending you lots of good vibes for this week.

@jap618 - Woohoo for being off the bench! I know timing isn't optimal, but hopefully it will ease some of the pressure of this cycle.

@luciddreamer106 - I getcha on the avoiding certain exercises. I become super lazy every 2WW which makes no sense, as I got pregnant the first time running a ton. Enjoy hot yoga! I heard it's wonderful!

@jenn0021 - Good luck at your appts this week! I know you'll do great.

@jenek0213 - Hi beautiful! Thanks for stopping by. Hope all is well.

@ekgibs - good luck with the house preparation. That's exciting and overwhelming at the same time.

@kmw08 - good for you for standing up for yourself.

My first IUI cycle was a bust. I had a really hard time the last few days, but I feel better today. We've been doing a giant purge of crap in our house, I've gotten some work done and worked out so I feel good that at least I didn't mope around all weekend. We are switching REs b/c of the terrible time we had with insurance and treatment explanations. I have my new appt on Thursday and am really looking forward too it. Depending on what she says we might even fit in treatment because our meeting should be at the beginning of my cycle.

@jenn0021 I hope your bloodwork went well.

@EKGibs That's exciting you're starting on the new house process! I'm sorry you're getting on your own nerves- I do that to myself a lot. This journey really sucks sometimes.

@KMW08 Good for you for standing up for yourself. Want me to help you TP her?

@jenkellen I'm sorry this cycle was a bust. I hope your appointment went well today!

AFM My computer crapped out on me, so I've been mobile bumping until today :(

Of course, my first cycle off the bench has been completely wonky. I O'd late this cycle, so now AF is late. DH and I are going to be in separate places during the next FW now.

I called the college I applied to since I hadn't heard anything back from them, and there was a mistake with my transcripts, so my application hadn't been processed yet. I actually spoke to the person who made the mistake, and she was extremely apologetic and said it wouldn't effect my timeline of starting school if I'm chosen. I should hear back from them by the end of next week.
I'm sorry that your first cycle after getting off the bench is throwing you off. I hope you find out soon about your acceptance. Good luck!

Hi ladies, sorry for being so late to the game. I've been mobile much more lately (why does this board not show up when mobile??) so I'm playing catch up a bit.

No major updates here. We had our WTF appointment with our doctor a few weeks ago. I posted on the main board, but here is a snippet: We started the appointment off by talking about the past two cycles. My doctor feels completely confused, it sounds like. He doesn’t think our low fertilization rate during the second cycle was due to medication dosage, which was something MH was concerned about. He says that he normally gives people a low dose, so the second time around I was actually on a “normal” dosage compared to other clinics. He is concerned about how my body is reacting to the stims, particularly my estradiol level. I asked if it was my young age (nearly 28) that could be causing it, but he doesn’t think so. He said that although my cycles seem to be perfect, he is questioning whether or not I have mild PCOS. I don’t have most of the symptoms, but my estradiol seems to shoot up very easily. My eggs were worse the second cycle and he says my estradiol was also higher. I don’t know if I’m sold on this theory, but I’m willing to consider it. He mentioned that if we were to try again, he would switch me to a Lupron trigger rather than Ovidrel to help prevent OHSS and he wants me to start Metformin for egg quality. He also told me that I can continue taking the CoQ10 to see if this helps as well and that I should be eating high protein, low carb, and organic fruits and vegetables.

We also talked about using a donor. We talked to the insurance lady at our RE about a week afterward about egg adoption and embryo adoption and it is much more expensive than our RE led us to believe and it is also a 9 month waitlist (our RE thought it was pretty immediate), which was disappointing. Therefore, we decided to cycle one last time. So I started the Metformin and I'm taking Ubiquinol. We are set to cycle in May.

@KMW08 -  That FB drama is crazy!  All I can say is "wow" and give you some ((Hugs)).  FX you get a temperature rise soon!

@jbasore1123 - Hope you're handling the Metformin well.  I never really had a problem with it in terms of side effects, but I know many ladies on the board did.  Sorry it looks like embryo/egg adoption would take longer than you previously thought.  ((Hugs))

@Hawkward - So sorry your cycle has messed up BD timing with DH!  My husband travels for work, and that caused us an insane amount of frustration for us.  ((Hugs))

@jenek0213 -  Hi!  Hope all is well :-)

@jenkellen -  Hope your appointment with the new RE went well!

@EKGibs - You're building a new house? How exciting!  Sorry you're conflicted about adoption vs IVF.... I wish there was an easy answer for you.  ((Hugs))

@Sammer818 -  Glad you got good news at your appointment!  I know how you feel about it making you paranoid that the next appointment won't go as well.  I hate that!  It sucks IF/TTCAL does that to a person :(  T&P's that all your appointments from now on go as perfect as can be!

@jap618 - Hope your timing worked out perfectly :-)

@luciddreamer106 - Sorry the BCP's make you sick!  Hopefully the new ones will be much better.  Yay for no acne though!  Let us know how the hot yoga works out if you give it a go.

@Jenn0021 -  I checked out your blog the other day, and I'm totally stealing your jar idea!  I'm nowhere near as crafty/domestic as you are, but I think I can handle spray pain and chalk :P  Sorry you've been having such a rough time with the blood draws.  FX you have no more "vampire" appointments, and that the test results will give you some insight into a proper treatment plan.  ((Hugs))

  • @sammer818 Thanks for the check in. You are so awesome! I'm glad you're appt went well and I understand the feeling of wondering when the other shoe is going to drop. I hope you can find ways to cope and feel hopeful.

@jap618 Good luck with timing this cycle!

@luciddreamer106 I'm glad this new BCP is a little better for you. Let me know how hot yoga goes for you.

@jenn0021 ((hugs)) and I'm hoping for easy answers for you in March.

@EKGibs ((hugs)) I hate this is so complicated.

    @KMW08 Fuck her!

@jenkellen ((hugs)) I'm sorry about your IUI cycle. So frustrating!

@Hawkward I'm sorry this cycle was frustrating. Damn!

@jbasore1123 I hate that you got that news from your RE. I'm so sorry. ((hugs))

I had a "WTF is next" appt this week with my RE. She wants to do repeat labs because my hormone levels from Sept are so low she thinks the lab may have made a mistake. She said she's never seen them this low before.

If the new CD3 labs come back higher, then she's going to recommend us go straight to IVF. If the new labs come at about where they were in Sept, then she wants us to strongly consider egg donor. I was not expecting her to say that. She had alluded to trying injections first, but now everything has changed. Like most, we don't have IF insurance, so we're looking at huge amounts of debt.

In the meantime, we can keep trying on our own. She wants me to start progesterone one week after ovulating each cycle. She said I have a small amount of "good" eggs left. And "good" is relative. There are just more bad ones than good ones, so we just need to find that one magical cycle.

@jbasore1123- I wish the appointment went better...but it at least sounds like you have a plan. I'm crossing everything for your next cycle! Please update as I will be stalking you! You should focus and keep positive thinking on this next cycle...but if it didn't work out, you should check out RBA's my egg bank program. It's about half the price of a DE cycle and you can pretty much start immediately.because you're not waiting for a donor to be available or to sync cycles. You only get 6 eggs so chances for genetic siblings is pretty much out but they do have a guarantee program that you get your money back if you don't take home a baby. Just some food for thought. However, I'm praying that you won't even need to think about it!

I'll definitely will. We wanted to start with looking into what our RE offers since it would be easier, but we just need to gather a lot of info over the next few months.

  • @hawkward - so sorry about the mix up at school. I hope it gets straightened out quickly and glad it doesn't affect your start date.

@jbasore1123 - I've been thinking about you a lot (((hugs))) How disappointing to hear about the timeline for donor eggs. I'm glad you have made a decision, but sad of how you had to make it. I hope this cycle goes well for you and you won't need to think about donor eggs.

@uneek1323 - I am so sorry to hear this. (((hugs)))

@snegde - Hey beautiful. I am super cloudy too. I honestly don't even know how I'm doing ok at work because I am very distracted. I don't even think it's necessarily always TTCAL stuff just having trouble focusing. Sending lots of (((hugs))
