Hi ladies. Some might remember me but I shall re-intro for those who dont

Im 32, have severe endo, I married back in 2010.My husband and I had issues for 2 years TTC. So I decided to have a Lap surgery to remove the Endo back in June of last year. I changed my diet and started acupuncture. I was stunned to get my first Postive Test in September. I naturally miscarried after the baby stopped growing in the 6th week. I waited 1 cycle as suggested and then we got another Positive @ the beg. of Jan. I again just lost the preg in the 6th week. I just had my D&C last Thursday.
We are not ready to try again. This being my 2nd loss in a row i need to process everything. We met with my RE today who is going to do full bloodwork on me. However he asked me to come back in May to start the testing. For anyone whom has had testing done, was it done right away, or is it normal to wait a few months? I thought it might be better to post here rather than the miscarriage board, thinking that we might be a bit more seasoned with experiences

I'm currently going through testing and seeing an re. And I have also had two back to back losses (but no af between mine). I've not heard of anyone having to wait to start testing except maybe until af or after o. It is possible it could be related to the d&c you had. Will they follow your betas to 0? Is the re you're seeing the same doctor who did the d&c? I'm sure your doctor has good reasoning for wanting to wait.

The RE I'm seeing doesn't do D&C's so my reg OB did it. I go to see her for my follow up next week, maybe she'll have a different option for me? My RE just said it takes a few months to get back to the norm and he didn't want to test before that

I thought I've read ladies getting to test pretty soon after their losses so I'm just confused as to if I have to wait. I by no means want to go against his request I just want to make sure if I'm gonna wait 3 months, that I HAVE to wait 3 months

I'm so sorry you find yourself back here.

For my testing I had to wait until AF came back. If you just had your d&c then AF is 4-6 weeks out which brings us to the middle of Apr. My guess is its just time to let your hormones stable out a bit. You don't want residual pg hormones messing with and delaying your testing.

I am so sorry for your losses. I had my second loss in Jan and both doctors I see (long story I dislike my current OB so my family friend counsels me as well from out of state) said I had to wait at least one full cycle, AF cycle AF, to get most of my blood work done because your body needs time to get back to normal. You might get inaccurate results if you don't wait. My OB did run some blood work that was not cycle day specific (vit D, thyroid, and a bunch of others) which all came back normal. I hate all of this "hurry up and wait", it's so hard.

I am so sorry for your losses. If it were me, I would wait a couple of cycles for any blood work. I have had lots done, and one time I had another set just after a m/c and it was really wonky and I had to repeat again later anyway.

I would think that any structural tests (HSG, HSN, SHG) could be done earlier.

Fwiw, during my first loss I posted simultaneously on the Miscarriage/Loss board as well on TTCAL for a little while, so I think that is just fine and is a normal part of the transition.

May isn't that far off especially if you just had the D&C.....figuring that you won't get your first period until 30-45 days or maybe longer? I know it seems far away but it's only 60 days from now.

Sorry for your losses. I agree with PP that I'm sure they want your hormone levels to normalize before before testing. When you see some of us testing right after m/c it's most likely RLP testing and not the normal tests RE run for the typical first IF testing.

For your first round of testing for an RE they want to test FSH, LH, AMH, e2, etc. All of which are hormones that would be effected coming off a loss. These are done around cd2-4 to get an accurate reading. RPL testing is often antibodies, not hormones levels so it can be done anytime. But I agree there are certain tests REs order that can also be done ahead of time if you want to get a jump on it - you DH can have an S/A, after your first AF you could probably have an HSG, if you want your thyroid tested, etc.

I'm so sorry for your losses. Regarding the testing, I can tell you that I had CD 3 BW done after my first AF after my loss, and then when it was repeated later my results were significantly different, specifically my FSH which was really low right after my loss. So I'm not sure what the norm is, but it makes sense to me that they would want to wait until your hormones regulate. Good luck!

I'm so sorry for your losses. I'm benched right now for at least two months due to an EP that had to use MTX to resolve, but I am also waiting for testing. Part of it, as explained to me is that they want my HCG levels to hit zero before we start any blood testing. And we don't know how long that might take. Also, because my clinic works out of a hospital, they want to wait at least until 7-10 days after my next period to do any structural testing because that's when the radiology department does it.

Wow, thank you ladies so much for all the advice. Waiting for everything to regulate seems very normal before testing and I will only have 2 cycles by the time May rolls around so it really isn't that far away I guess

The hubby and I had already agreed we were going to wait 2-3 cycles this time before we start TTC again so it all fits into place timing wise
