S/O Baby Products: If you had to buy ONE thing...

The discussion about baby products we thought we needed (and didn't) got me thinking...if you could buy ONE thing for a new mom, what would it be? I have 3 friends who are expecting their first LOs this year, and they're all asking me which this and which that I'd recommend. So, for fun, and with no regard to price ::coughpramcough:: what is the one thing you think a new mom can't live without? What's the one thing you'd buy first?

Personally, I'm torn between the Rock & Play and the Nosefrida. Fuck, and the swing!

OKOKOK, the swing wins. Hands down.

Go!

K'tan and nosefrida. If I had to choose one it would be nosefrida. Most new moms won't buy that themselves because it is "gross." The things you do that you never thought you would.

I've actually just made lists for both my cousin and SIL who are expecting in the next few months. Definitely the RNP and Nosefrida! I actually plan on getting them a whole medicine thing for their showers (along with whatever else they register for) but that was something we hadn't thought of. Somebody got us the basics like gas drops, tylenol and a nice thermometer. It was so nice to have that when we needed it and not have to run to the store. I'm going to do the same for them but include saline and a nosefrida!

DS hated his rock n play but I got a ton of use out of the bouncy seat. If I could turn back time I would look up the lightest weight infant carrier and get that. My britax one is heavy.

It depends. If I think they would baby wear then a really nice woven ring sling they could use right away. Or the mamaroo, that thing is amazing.

Someone on this board linked to them on amazon in a motn thread at some point. I ordered them on the spot and have been super happy with them. Worth the 5 bucks.

Oh my god I love mine. It's the only reason I have switched him to a convertible seat yet!

I use A&A blankets for everything...including burp cloths.

And the sound machine...With the timer and projection.

    Everything else is meh.

Eta. I apparently can't follow directions and only pick one thing. Sorry. Hahaha

Kick N Play Piano. He still loves that thing. And the Rock N Play was amazing at the beginning but we put him in his crib at 8 weeks and now we barely use it. He's a great sleeper though.

    Swing. Best purchase ever!

I actually wish I never used the RNP for night sleeping now that DS has a sizeable flat spot. I know it could have been caused by a number of things but RNP's are harder than a mattress and have a record for causing flat spots.

Grr this makes me ragey! We used the Rock N Play for 8 weeks and he really does have a flat spot. But our friends used the Snugabunny swing from Fisher Price and their baby had a terrible flat spot and he had to wear a helmet. It must be something to do with the design/hardness of their stuff. LAME.

Yeah I wish I researched it more before I got it. He has a consult on Monday to see if he needs a helmet, which I think he will.
I'll be thinking of you guys. Fingers crossed! We still haven't had Jude's 4 month appointment so his pedi hasn't seen him since he was 6 weeks old. I'm nervous about what she'll say about his head.

I seriously think I'll buy a Nosefrida and extra filters for every new mom I know. Gross? Yes. Effective? Absolutely.

ETA I wouldn't have ever known about this little lifesaver without my Bumpies. Hollaaaa!
