X post - Encapsulating your own placenta?

Anyone have experience with encapsulating their own placenta? None of the ladies that do it locally have contacted me back and it seems they are all booked up. If anyone has done this themselves, do you have any tips or tricks? Any equipment or supplies that are a must or that yields best results? TIA, mommies!!!

@sthomas1222 - Maybe you have some advice? :)

I know the procedure to get it to pill form can be a bit complicated, but I also know some women cut it into pill size and freeze them and take it that way too. It's too bad they are all booked up- I am getting mine done and I am getting mine done and it seems like even if you had to wait a few days someone would have an opening.

Not many of the people I have found will come to my area/ the hospital I am delivering at so it really narrows my choices. :(

  • I would also try asking local midwives and doulas in your area. Even if they don't do it they may point you in the right direction. Also look to see if there are any flyers at your local health food stores, yoga studios or other 'crunchy' places. Or ask around if you are taking a childbirth class.
I found that some of the students at the local midwife school do it.
I had a friend who's husband did it so I know you can DIY, but from what I remember it took a few hours.
    Good luck
  • Check out PBi. If there's no one near you they have a do it yourself kit that you can request by email (it's not always in hmthe shop).

  • There are a few videos online that I've watched of how to do it at home.
