I just found it interesting! He said he wanted to check on fluid since I'm measuring ahead. He also said "having a big baby isn't the end of the world necessarily" HAHA What??!!
My baby was measuring a week ahead at my last Ultrasound (27 weeks), but at my appointment yesterday my uterus/external measurements were "right on track".
The U/S tech just said based on baby's head he looked 28+ weeks, not just 27 weeks. So that wasn't so far ahead that it's concerning. But yeah ... his head is measuring big? That's the first part of him to jam it's way out ... ouch.
Yesterday my OB said I was measuring 2 cm ahead. Didn't say it was fluid. Now that I think about it not sure if it's bc baby is big or more developed for the week I'm in. Didn't seem to be a concern for her though.
My LO has been measuring about 2 weeks ahead for awhile. We found out at our a/s and had a follow-up a month later. Nothing changed (as in, he's still 2 weeks ahead). I was basically told that all was ok since he wasn't continuously getting further and further ahead and nothing else has been wrong. OB's aren't worried, so I won't be either.
Had an u/s Tuesday and he's measuring a week or so ahead. Fundal height got measured Thursday and it's still the same. No one is worried so far. The midwife said that by 32 weeks we should be able to tell how big he'll be. Good luck chica!
In memory of the angel babies that were too perfect for Earth.
I was measuring 2 weeks ahead yesterday (up from 1 week the time before). My doctor said we will keep our eye on it and if it continues he'll order another ultrasound. I go back March 12 at 29.5wks so we'll see. Baby was measuring a week ahead at the 20week u/s.
This just happened to me. I was measuring 29 weeks at 27 weeks. Doctor also thought I had extra fluid. Had an US and baby was exactly where she is supposed to be. My fluid was normal, but high normal. The tech told me everyone carries babies different so sometimes that just happens.
This LO was measuring about two weeks ahead by fundal height and by ultrasound until yesterday. Now he's only about 1 week ahead by fundal height and about 9 days ahead by ultrasound. My doctors aren't worried so I'm not going to be either. I was told that it's okay for your fundal height to be up to two weeks ahead and it be normal.

I've literally been measuring 2 weeks ahead since we conceived I think. There are a million reasons, maybe just the way you are carrying (that is my case, I'm very short waisted), extra fluid, the way the baby is positioned etc. it's good that they are keeping an eye on it but try not to get too worked up, it's very common!
We had additional u/s' with DD1 because they said her belly looked big. Nothing ever came of it (health wise) and they didn't seem too worried since I passed the glucose test. I just had a lot of extra fluid so I always measured about a week or so ahead. And I guess DD1 just had a big belly. She weighed in at 8lb 0oz, so def. not huge.
Was nice to see her cute little face again, though :-) They change a lot from the 20wk a/s!
So ... stupid question ... if the baby is measuring like 2-4 weeks ahead, would your OB want to induce you earlier? If you were a week or 2 ahead would it make labour at 35-37 weeks safer (for the babies survival rate)?
Pure curiosity, I'm like maybe 5 days ahead so this doesn't really apply to me.
DS, who measured ahead consistently from the very beginning, ended up being born on his due date weighing 9 lb 7 oz, 22 in long. I was induced, but his head was so big that he never dropped into the pelvis and I never dilated or went into labor, even with Prostin, Cytotec, and Pitocin. I ended up having a c-section and loving it.
Our ultrasound measurements with DS were always spot-on. I had a 9-and-a-half-pound baby, exactly what the tech predicted at 38w2d.
DS: 11/8/11 | 9 lb 7 oz, 22 in DD: 5/22/14 | 9 lb 9 oz, 21.5 in
I measure right on track at every appointment as per the fundal measurements but she did measure 5 days ahead at my AS which is nothing. I do get an extra US on Tuesday though at 29+5 because I have a marginal placenta and they want to check on her growth I've had a 6.12 lb baby and a 8.8 lb baby both at exactly 38 weeks so I'm curious to see what this one will be
My boy was measuring 10 days ahead in December, 16 days ahead in January, and 18 days ahead in February. Im a math teacher so i say he is growing exponentially! My due date is may 19th but he measured may 1st.
I've heard nothing about fluid levels but they are doing an ultrasound every month to monitor size. Last appointment I asked if they were going to move up my due date, and she said no. That he was probably just going to be big.
My baby is measuring 2 plus weeks ahead. My fluid and everything else looks normal. They plan to do a scan again around 36-37 weeks to monitor. Anyways, my guy is measuring 4 pounds at 30 weeks.
LO measured about 2 weeks ahead, and she "weighed" in at 4.7lbs. They didn't say anything about it. When I asked both the tech and dr said she prolly just had an early growth spurt. Hopefully they're right! I don't want a 10lb-er.

No worries here, yet. DD measured the same way and was 8 lb 13 oz at birth (at 39 weeks). I've been mentally preparing myself for a 9ish lb baby. :-)
