FP seahorse?

Has anyone seen the news about the FP seahorse being dangerous? My mom told me she saw a news segment about it smoking after replacing the batteries. I've already replaced them once without any problem but I'm thinking of getting rid of it or taking the batteries out. Aparrently FP is not recalling but they did change the battery compartment on a new batch after several complaints. I remember several of our babies having one...
