Question about meat

How long will you leave raw meat refrigerated before you cook it? Does it matter to you if it was frozen prior to being refrigerated?

I have some sausage I purchased almost a week ago, but have not gotten around to cooking it yet and I am wondering if I am SOL, or if it would still be okay to cook and eat.

I would check the date. Sausage normally has a longer shelf life. If it is over date then I would smell it.

Yea, if it smells weird then I won't use it, but otherwise sausage is really forgiving. I'd for sure make it tonight though and not wait.

A week as in I bought it last Saturday evening. I will have to look for a sell by/ use by date though. Thanks ladies!

If previously frozen within 24 hours of thaw. If only refrigerated within 2 days of the use by date.

I read this after the meat 2.0 thread and laughed like a 12 year old about 'sausage'.

Anyway - I'm with everyone else, look for a best before/sell by date and if it is past, smell.

Generally speaking I try to use meat within 4 days of purchase.
