Success after IF

How to stay Positive so early on?

Happy Friday!  This is my first post on the SAIF board (yay), but I'm not ready to introduce myself yet.  How do you stay positive, and get excited very early on?  I just received my very first BFP on Monday with a Beta of 2229, and 48 hours later 3375.  At just 5 weeks, we saw the gestational sac, but nothing else at that point.  My next u/s is on Wednesday.  I want to stay positive but in the back of my mind I'm constantly saying that aweful "M" word. I have no reason to think otherwise, but need positive reinforcement, or a Mantra!  Help!  Thank you!

Re: How to stay Positive so early on?

  • Congrats and welcome! You might also check out PAIF, since they are all currently pregnant. However, you are totally welcome here!

One way to stay positive is that you are finally on the right side of the odds--you are pregnant! A quick google search indicates that the m/c rate after a sac is detected is 12-15% and after hb it is single digits. However, knowing all that I still couldn't calm down and enjoy my pregnancy until around 15w. Hugs! And wishing you a h&h 9mo.

  • Great points, and thank you!! I've been trying to stay away from Dr. Google, but that would help to ease my mind :)  I may post over on PAIF also.  I didn't know the difference.  Thanks again!

  • Whenever I would start to worry I would actively stop myself and think about how I had no control over what was happening, that I was doing everything I possibly could to ensure a healthy pregnancy but in reality the vast majority of it is just out of our hands so what would be would be wether I worried or not so why not try and enjoy things.  Today I am pregnant.  I would also say to my baby, I am sending you my love and good intentions.

Make sure and update us after your next ultrasound and congratulations on your pregnancy.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • Congrats and welcome! I looked at finally getting P as clearing a huge hurdle. I tried to stay positive, eat well, and do what I could to help keep my LO growing and thriving. Ice cream totally counts :) Enjoy it, try not to stress, and stay away from Dr. Google!!!

  • Congrats! It's tough just try to think about milestones and celebrating those events as they come. Try to keep yourself busy and just enjoy being pregnant as much as you can. That's all you can do. You will question your whole pregnancy if things are okay no matter what.
