Target Up & Up was the best, IMO! Like PPs mentioned, our pedi told us there was no difference, and the Target brand is literally less than half the price of name brand. ETA: I'm a STM with experience... We started DS1 on Enfamil once I was done BFing and quickly got discouraged by the price. Our pedi recommended Target brand and we never looked back!
I started DS off with a generic for Similac Advance. My theory was if he had issues with it, I'd move to the name brand. If not, I'd keep up with the generic. And generic it was!
My understanding is that it's regulated in much the same way medicine is, so there are very specific nutrients and formulas they need to use. Generic should be exactly the same composition as the name brand, but always double check too as some formulas vary for sensitivity (e.g. some formulas are specific with no soy or dairy allergens, etc, so that might be different.)
DD1's ped told us they are exactly the same. I compared the ingredients (Enfamil vs Sam's Club) and the ingredients were almost identical, it's crazy how close they are. We never even weaned, we just changed cold turkey and she never had a reaction. Sam's Club formula was half the price and also contained more formula.
Thanks for the advise ladies. I'm a teacher and having summer months off can be difficult at times. Therefore, knowing this it does help. I'll mention it to the pedi first and then take it from there. But I have a BJ's and Sam's Club near me so I'll use free samples first considering what she be on first of course. Thank you again.
I used to work for the company that makes Enfamil and they were contracted to make some generic versions of their products. Therefore, you could get the exact same formula, made in the same place, with just a different label on the outside (and a different price).
