indirect claims to fame

Let's brag about complete indirect claims to fame and encounters with famous people that make us, well, absolutely no more famous then we are.

1) I met Ralph Macchio at an Islanders game back when Karate Kid was huge. Still have my autographed book and the pen cap he touched (swoon-worthy for middle school aged me)
2) My second cousin in the drummer for The Brooklyn Bridge (Johnny Maestro & The Brooklyn Bridge)
3) My friend Artie's cousin is Anthony Michael Hall and that friend was in a number of pretty big hard core bands
4) I'm friends with "Captn" Kirk Douglas, guitarist from The Roots (Jimmy Fallon/the Tonight Show band)

And I am completely not famous. Oh well. sigh. Ha ha!

    Lyndon Johnson was my great grandmother's cousin. (At least that's what they think. That part of the family apparently lost touch or something.)

    Strom Thurmond (SC senator who was around forever) patted me on the head when I was little. I was probably 10 or so at the local tennis club and had no idea who he was.

    Okay, that's all I've got. I've got to get out more.

    • I met Jesse James before his hoopla w/ Sandra Bullock at his shop in CA - nice guy, took photos and everything
    • A friend of mine won a car on Price is Right and we were in the audience (that counts right?  lol)
    • I met the Black Eyed Peas... according to DH Fergie seemed like she wanted to hook up!
      • backstory - was on Spring Fling Committee in college, they were our band (no joke! awesome).  i was supposed to be a student rep at the airport so I got super baked w/ my friends before, showed up, found out I had to drive one of the vans GREAT!  LET ME KEEP MY SUNGLASSES ON PLZ MR CAMPUS POLICE.  picked them up, drove back w/ police escort cuz they were late.  Apple is in my van, requests for permission to eh roll one up.  whotf am i to say no?  and yes pass this way plz. campus police opens the doors to help them out and says to me it smells skunky.  i about doubled over and just shrugged at him!  they had their show then went back to the staging area w/ them and hung out.  had fun took pics etc.  they had to jet back to NY immediately for show the next morning. boo.
    • Met Obama on Martha's Vineyard... totally unexpected.  getting drinks w/ DH, slowly realized lots of men w/ lil presidential pins and ear peices in wearing Hawaiian shirts and khakis.  looked outside and realized the street was blocked and taped off.  at that point said HMMMM, yes another round please.  and what do you know?  we were the last table before the door to the porch where there was a "private function" going on.  fun to meet him and his family.
    • Met a few Hall of Fame Patriots players at a HoF induction a few years ago.  
    Um I think that's it!  These are fun to read!

    My cousin was once on the Ricki Lake show - he and his friends made up a story to get on the show. It was one of those confront the people who tormented you in high school episodes - except none of them knew each other in high school. The show did no fact-checking at all (I'm sure you're all shocked by that).

    My uncle(through marriage)'s brother is or was a drummer for the band The Who. 

    My step mother used to work at the Bell Center in Montreal when it was called the Molsen center. I was there visiting her one night that Celine Dion was performing and I saw her walk through the hallway and she waved at us. 

    The movies "The Covent" and "Secret Window" were both partially filmed in towns near where I grew up. A lot of my friends are background extras in those movies and I actually saw Johnny Depp when he was at his hotel during filming.

    This post makes me feel so lame since I don't have any real experiences with anyone famous. Here are my attempts at trying to find something remotely related:

    1. I touched Mariah Carey's leg at a concert when she walked by.

    2. DS got a pic of Tracy Morgan while on a class trip to NYC.

    3. My uncle went to high school with Sinbad (so he claims).

    I have a picture of Ron Howard and Kurt Russell holding me when I was a baby. They were in town filming Backdraft and they were playing golf at my dads golf course one day and my family got to meet them. 

    One of my brothers is good friends with Lajon Witherspoon, the singer from the band Sevendust.

    My other brother played golf with Chris Kirkpatrick of NSYNC in a golf tournament, they were partners.

    I can't think of any more. Not that exciting, sorry.
