It's a fine name when you spell it with an i instead of y, IMO. But, really, I just wanted to comment on how many people think it's only a girl's name. I would definitely think of it as a boy's name over a girl's name. Cultural, perhaps?

My great-grandfather was a Sydney, so I don't mind it at all . That said, he was named after an aunt and they didn't change it to the boy spelling, which is Sidney. If you like it, go for it.

When I picture a guy Sidney, I picture a really strong man. I kind of like it but only if you spell it without the y.
