waking super early...why????

My LO is usually a great sleeper. He goes in his crib totally awake and puts himself to sleep. He usually sleeps from about 7:15-7:30pm until 6:20am or so. He takes one nap around noon for 1.5-2.5 hours.

Recently he's been waking for the day between 4-5:30 am. Any idea why?? He is getting his top molars but when he wakes he isn't crying. He will stay in his crib for a while happily so I'm not convinced its teeth

I work full time so this lose of sleep is really taking its toll.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • Try putting him to bed a little later. B takes 2 naps a day, goes to bed around 8:30 and gets up at about 6:30.

  • If he's waking happy, why are you getting him?? I would just leave him in bed until at least 6am, especially if he's happy.

  • I agree with @hilsy85 just don't go in. My daughter has been waking up at 630 the past few days. I ignore her and she will go back to sleep for an hour or just hang out until 7. I'm lazy and this momma doesn't like getting up that early lol.

  • I agree with previous comments. Try a later bedtime. My son goes to bed 8-8:30 and sleeps til about 7-7:30 usually. If I need/want to sleep in and he's not screaming I leave him, sometimes he'll pass back out.

  • B was chatting with herself at 6am, then after about 10 minutes went back to sleep until 8. :)

  • I never go in and get him if he's happy.  I let him do his thing but when he gets up at 4:30 am he only stays happy until 5:30 at the latest.  I always hope he will go back to sleep but he doesn't.  Last night he was up in his crib happy from a little before 3 am until close to 4..he did go back to sleep until 6.
