Dating very early at first us - only sac no embryo....

I went in for my first ultrasound today. Based on the first day of my last period I should be 7 weeks and 6 days (my cycles are always normal). Anyway, the ultrasound technician said that I was measuring 5 weeks and 4 days. We could see the sac, but we could not see the embryo. My doctor is ordering more blood work, but I am really nervous that something is wrong. She said that if I am 5w4d everything looks normal, but I don't know how I could be behind, since I had a positive test on the 31st. I have had no bleeding or spotting, so I am going to remain hopeful. Today was very upsetting. Did this happen to anyone else?

This happened to me, but I was tracking ovulation so I knew exactly how far along I was. When I should have been measuring 6+2 I measured 5+5 (very slow almost imperceptible heartbeat), and then at 7+2 I measured 6+1 and there was no heartbeat. No cramping or bleeding or any sign that anything was wrong. Missed miscarriages (like, no sign of anything wrong) are the least common type though, so you should definitely stay hopeful!

It happened to me. When I went for my first u/s I was supposed to be 6 weeks 1 day based on LMP. I had a pretty good idea of when we would have conceived, although I wasn't charting. The u/s showed only a gestational sac with an early yolk sac and the OB put me about 4 weeks and 4-5 days. He thought I ovulated late, but the date he thought I would have conceived didn't fit with when I had my positive test - it would have been at like 7 dpo. He had me come in a week later and we saw an embryo with a heart beat. Dated me at 6 weeks 2 days. Still a couple days behind where I thought I was but better than the first. I have another scan in about 3 weeks to make sure it has continued to grow so we'll see what happens. FX that everything is okay for you.

Oh I am going through the exact same thing and it's heart breaking and scary. I go in for another ultrasound on Friday. I am irregular but that didn't seem to encourage dr much.

This happened to me as well! So so so scary

I had spotting and cramping at 6w3d on Feb 19 and had a vag U/S which showed gestational and yolk sac, but no embryo. I then had increased bleeding (bright red with some clots) 9 days later on Feb 28 when I was 7w5d and saw my little bean!!

Baby was dated at only 6w4d though (which I expected due to late O).

I've had the same happen to me - twice. It totally sucks, but using the date of the +HPT and the dating from the u/s, there's not a ton of wiggle room there so I just knew. Hope it's not the same for you. T&P.

So sorry you have to go through this! I am in the same boat. I know exactly when I conceived and at 8 weeks I was measuring 6w 2d. But the baby had a strong heart beat but I also have spotting. Started out as light brown turn to dark brown with spotting. I have very light symptoms as well. Tomorrow I am 9 weeks and will have an ultra sound to see what is going on. Trying to be positive but I know I need to be prepared for the worst
