Starting daycare

DD is supposed to start daycare on Monday. She'll be going from 7-11 am, then my mom will pick her up four days to watch her and my ILs one. As I was trying to go to sleep last night it hit me, I've never even taken her there! She's only been watched by my ILs, my SIL, my sisters, and my mom. That's it. These are total strangers in a completely new environment! WTF was I thinking?! I've been so absorbed with nailing down all of the logistics that I never even took her there to get to know the place or the teachers. I've made arrangements to spend some time there tomorrow morning with her, but is that enough? I'm reading online that some people do it for like a month! I can't do it for a month. Maybe we could do Monday too, but I don't know.

I worked in several daycares and it was VERY rare that a new parent did that for more than one day. She will do great! It will be much harder on you than it is on her. Hang in there! You're a great mom, and she's going to thrive!

Thank you. I think what's stressing me out is that it's just her and me. She needs to know that I will be there. She spends a lot of time with our parents but night after night I'm there, just me and all day on the weekends too. Our circle has become very limited. Dan and I had planned on putting her in daycare three days a week when I went back to work but that never happened. So I'm nervous about doing it at this age, when she's used to spending all her time with the same four people.Plus we just moved, which she seems to have adjusted to but this is another big change.

She's gonna have so much fun! They'll only be "strangers" for a few days and then they'll be her new friends! So much to do and see and play with! She'll have a ball.

This. Same with my son. Never did we go there first. He did great.
