Weird question about fetal movement???

Feel free to redirect if this fits better in another thread!

I am 24 weeks and 3 days today. Over the last few days I have had very reduced fetal movement. I have heard this can be quite common due to positioning. The strange thing is that the movements that I do feel are directed toward my vagina and my butt!! It's strangest thing I have ever experienced. When I feel the crotch shot it almost feels like something is coming out of me and when I feel it towards my behind it feels like I'm going to have a BM. Although I am thrilled to feel him, these kicks feel gross. Anyone feeling these kinda of kicks??

Re: Weird question about fetal movement???

  • Yupp it happens. It's normal. Any movement is movement, no matter where it's directed.

  • @brighteyes112 thanks I'll check out the threads and see what those gals had to say. It feels soo funky!! Yes any movement is good movement.
  • Yeah, it's usually my baby A and she kicks inwards, instead of outwards. It's trippy!

Yup your baby is probably breech (feet down) so that is why you are feeling kicks down low. Nothing too worry about.

this could also fit in the one of the daily symptom threads.

    This exactly.

I have a breech boy and OP your description sounds very similar
  • Yup, same here. My LO has decided that my cervix and hips are perfect toys to punch/kick. He also loves to jab me towards the back and butt where it can feel like major gas. So weird!! I totally don't mind when he flips and kicks my belly. That's the best! I can do without the cervix and butt punches. :)
  • Another victim of breech baby cervix abuse here! Oh, please move little guy!
  • Ooh it's my cervix?!?! Interesting stuff. Lol. So glad it's not just me. You guys are awesome. Thanks for the feedback.

    Yup, I get these, too.

    I sort of envision this:

This is hysterical!!! And yes that's exactly what I think is going on.
  • I also get this really weird kick very low/near my vag that feels like a cross between being tickled and punched in the gut. Super weird.

The baby is kicking my side now, in almost a rhythm. Also so weird.

  • My DD seriously punched my butt non-stop from like 30 weeks until birth. It was so freaking awkward.

My little guy was totally MIA for about 48 hours, then he was back with a vengeance kicking up a storm today (vag and bum included). I think it just happens...not to worry!
  • I agree that it doesn't mean baby is breech. I had an exam for other reasons, and the doctor confirmed that baby was extremely low and head down. It was when I was getting tons of these movements. Headbutts to the cervix maybe? I agree that they're super odd feeling, but hopefully is baby shifts a little they'll get better.

This was me then I started getting the crotch and booty kicks. I think they position themselves oddly and at this point there is still plenty of room for them to find a spot that we can't feel. I found that if I played some music or talked to him for a few minutes he would respond. Even if it was a faint movement it gave me a lot of relief. This has been going on for the last week until today when he must have turned. I felt a lot of movement outwardly. If you are really concerned call the OB but give him a chance to change positions.

  • My LO does this, too. She is always super low like DS was. My kids apparently enjoy hanging out on the dungeons of my ute.

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

YES! LOL Most of my fetal movement is very, very low. And I swear, sometimes I feel what I am guessing is my colon moving. ?
Super, super weird!!  Like, she's pushing on whatever is connected to my butthole. (I feel so weird admitting that)
But yeah, my movement is often very low, like almost pubic area low. It's just weird when I'm getting feelings up front there and my "underside" (as described) at the same time.

  • Baby's at this stage can switch position a lot. A breach baby can flip , and flip again in a matter of minutes or hours. So a baby that may have been breach (or head down) during your ultrasound, may be otherwise now. We watched this one change DURING the ultrasound last week.

Right now he seem intent on stomping out my bladder. I almost prefer him transverse. I have to pee much less frequently that way. And I hate rectal kicks.

  • I'm so glad this was posted! I've been feeling kicks really low but still not on a consistent schedule. When my OB told me this week that movement should he regulating I almost panicked... I kept wanting to post on here and ask but I didn't want to be a SS.
I feel much more normal now and not so worried!

  • Vag kicks, totally normal.
  • Anyone started counting kicks yet?

  • I read in some articles and in another thread that counting isn't consistent until 28 weeks and that's the time you recommended to start. It should be at least 10 kicks within 2 hours at that point. If you start too soon you may not get the numbers you want and panic. And I mean let's face it... We are a big bunch if panic-ers. Lol.
