I have to work part of the day. GRRRRR!

I was supposed to be off yesterday & today, but somebody called in last night. So being nice, I volunteered to do the first few hours. This just sucks because I also work fri-sun all day.

My card didn't work at the gas pump this morning, so I had to go inside to pay. And I didn't hang up the nozzle, so I had to go back out, hang it up, and go back in to pay. [-(

Can I TP my great-aunt.

Over X-mas she sent me a batch of her famous cookies. They are a thin dough stuffed with a chestnut chocolate mixture. The cookies are stuffed and then friend and sprinkled with icing sugar.

Dh LOVES them. He's been raving about them since x-mas and bugging me to ask for the recipe. So, I finally called her up and got it.

Well she clearly left out some of the details. My cookies just weren't the same. I followed the recipe to a T and yet they were not nearly as tasty as hers. This specific aunt is known for leaving out details when sharing her recipes. I don't know what it is - fear that I'll thief it and pass it off on my own? Who knows.

The part that infuriates me - this recipe was originally given to her by my grandmother. My grandmother was illiterate and so none of her recipes were written down.

It is the same with my grandmother. She doesn't write any recipe down and measures everything by feel so even if you watch her you have no idea what she is doing.

@pinkcamino - argh that sucks! But those cookies sound fantastic. I don't know why people can't just give the correct recipe or tell you that they don't want to give it. Why make you waste your time? That's ridiculous!

My fathers mom did the same thing to my mom when they first got married. She wanted to make his favorite cake and asked my grandmother for the recipe. She made it and my dad said it seemed off...forward to dinner that night at my grandparents house and there stood a cake for my dad. It was perfect and my dad made the mistake of saying that. My grandmother rattled off what she did and mom caught the missing step. All grandma said was oh well you how it is when you're not use to writing things down.

That's horrible!!

I'm going to fix this problem. I had about a dozen of them frozen from x-mas. After DH pointing out they weren't the same I figured maybe it's because he had higher expectations for them. You know sometimes when something is AMAZING the first time, it doesn't quite live up to expectations the next right?

So yeah, they are 100% not the same. There is something clearly missing. I'm taking my cookies and her cookies to her house later this afternoon and getting to the bottom of this.

I made the mistake of telling my grandfather and he's furious. Because this recipe was originally handed down from grandpa's mom to grandma and then to aunt.

I had an endo biopsy done today (damn these effing tests are uncomfortable) and I forgot to ask the doctor if it is ok to have sex. It is H's birthday today and I will feel kinda bad if we can't.

I stepped on the hard corner of a gym bag DH left on the floor and it bent my toe backward. The snapping noise was pretty gross. I'm ridiculously klutzy.

it must be unbelievably painful. A couple of years ago (I'm a clutz too BTW) I ran down the stairs to the basement to get a can of soda. On my way back up the can flew out of my hands and the tiny lip on the can landed and smashed the cuticle on my second to last toe. The pain.. oh my gosh I can't even begin to explain it. Dh wasn't very sympathetic either until he broke his toe and realized how much we take our toes for granted.

FX it heals super quickly!

The idiot who designed the pre-fab house DH ended up buying (years before me) did not have the presence of mind to notice that when you put a regular door on a closet that is over 3 times the width of the door, you cannot access 2/3 of your clothing without tons of contortion.

They also couldn't have put the closets in each room along the same wall so the room would be square.

baseboard heat sucks because it takes away sq ft that you have available to use and can dictate where you put furniture. If it wasn't a PITA, I'd rip them all out since we don't use them anyway.

those would be my first world problems. I'm also trying to evict DH's office to the unfinished basement so the cat can have her own room like she is used to if we ever manage to have a kid.

Because H didnt get the job he interviewed for (grr), I am stuck applying for masters at a perfectly acceptable school, but not the better one he would have been employed at. At least I get a killer discount at this current school....

Pandora is trying to introduce new songs to my favorite station, but I don't like most of them (I have carefully crafted this station with my likes/dislikes) And now, I have run out of skips for the hour so I have to put up with the crappy songs.

@PinkCamino and @EurydiceNymph- I am going to call although my guess will be that they will say no since I am now bleeding. I didn't expect these tests to feel like a vibrator by any means, but I didn't expect them to be as uncomfortable as they have been.

I forgot to charge my phone. At work out computers are tablet style. The stands sit too low to plug in my phone cord to charge, so my computer is laying flat and now there's no room for the keyboard.

My FWP: My new washer, instead of vibrating or just a long beep at the end of the cycle, it plays a little song. Which is fine, except that the song makes my dog go batshit insane. If he hears it even from upstairs, he hauls ass to the laundry room barking the whole time. It's kind of hilarious. I could turn the signal off, but then I'd have no signal as to when the wash is done. So I'm keeping it on.
