photo sessions

Just curious if I'm getting a good deal.  How much have you paid for photo sessions for your LO?  Do you have to pay a sitting fee then pay for the prints or all included?

Re: photo sessions

  • Our girl says she does them for 200 with a cd of all prints
  • Loading the player...
  • Ours does a shared copyright, so she gives you a CD with all your photos and you can print on your own.

Special seasonal sessions are $80 for 30 minutes, normally I think it's $120-$150

She also did our pictures of ds2 7 years ago in Germany!! :-)

We have a semi-professional do ours.  She charges $75 for an outdoor session and $100 for an indoor session.  This is just for a disc with all of the pictures and any necessary editing.  No prints.

ETA: There is no set time, but we always get at least an hour.  The one time LO  was being kind of cranky, so she even let us do a feeding and a twenty minute nap mid-session.

We go to JC penny's because I'm cheap. The sitting fee is $9 or if you buy a two year membership for $30 it's free. Prints are $3.99 a sheet with a coupon. I think they actually turn out really nice. image
I just bought this groupon and happy you like them. I haven't been to a "typical studio" in decades so wasn't sure I would be satisfied. Also, how/where do you get the coupons for the prints?

We have paid anywhere from $100-200 depending on who was in the shoot and who we booked with. Also, the only way I book with a photographer is if they give us the edited copy of all photos taken and rights to print. I almost always print through MPIX for larger pics. Its a company that most pros use to print. For just basic 3x5, 4x6 or 5x7's I use walmart or snapfish.

  • We got referred to someone when Aiden was 6 months old and since then we've had pictures taken twice a year.  Since we use him so much we pay $65 for an hour shoot with access to an online gallery and a CD.  He travels to us (about an hour away) if we want him to for $10 more.

  • I've paid $15-250 for professional photography with the CD of all images. Can't afford it very often, so I just bought the $25 jcpenney groupon. We will see!

  • $250 session fee + $250 CD of all images edited (almost 100). This is the cheapest we were able to find.

  • Mine does various holiday mini-sessions for $40. You get 5 edited images on a CD for those. Other sessions are $150, and we get 50 images (one in color and one in black and white, so really just 25 images). She also comes to us. We live in Oklahoma though, and things are cheaper here.
  • $175 for a 2 hour session with a disk of 25 edited images and 4 8x10 prints. This is what he did for pregnancy and newborn photos.

When I go to NY I am paying $300 for a 2 hour session and 25 edited images.

  • We are going to JCP today. We also did newborn family and 3m there. Tried somewhere else for 6m and was not impressed so back to JCP we go. You can't beat the price!

When I did have to pay for photos, it was just for the pictures or digital copies. We had holiday photos done, and we got 1 8x10, 4 5x7's and 8 4x6's, plus a cd with digital copies, and we spent close to 300$. This was at Picture People.

I have 2 friends who are professional photographers, and for her newborn and v day shoot, I think I might of paid 30$ for time and travel, and got digital copies.
