Marginal Cord Insertion

Anyone have any experience with this?  I was told at our Morphology scan that I have an off center umbilical cord insertion into the placenta.  While my OB didn't seem overly concerned, I was told that we would have to do monthly ultrasounds starting in the third trimester to ensure that Henry is growing properly.  My daughter was also very small (5lb 8oz) at birth (only 6 days early and perfectly healthy), but that's another reason they want to keep an eye on his growth.  I'm not super worried at this point, but mainly just wondered if anyone else has had this and if they had any issues, early inductions, etc?

    No experience with it but I just wanted to say I hope it all works out in the end and you and baby boy stay healthy for the duration of your pregnancy.

    Huh weird they told me I had this but didn't mention extra ultrasounds or that baby might not grow properly... Could be because my first apt after my a/s isn't until march 11... I did talk to a midwife on the phone though she said I had it and it's no big deal. She said the umbilical cord came out of the side of my placenta...

    Hopefully, it's no big deal for both of us :)

    @kd0309, just came back to add that maybe the ladies over on the High Risk board might have some answers for you regarding this or try a Bump search to see if there are/have been other discussions on this.

    I had a velamentous cord insertion in my last pregnancy. I actually had 2 placentas and the cord implanted in the vessels between them. I also had to have growth ultrasounds. I did have to have a c section bc of the severity of it, but my daughter was 7lbs, and she came nearly 3 weeks early! So hopefully your little one will grow just fine! Good luck.

    Thank you for sharing your experience.  I know that a marginal cord insertion is not nearly as serious as a velamentous cord insertion, so that is very encouraging to hear!
