Visit with the RE

Our visit Tuesday went ok. We will wait for Sarah to start her next cycle and then wait a week to do the HSG as recommended by some of you and the RE suggested it. We explained our fertility coverage so we are going to make these three tries count and pull out the stops. He felt she was responding well to the follistim. He was ready to go IVF but since insurance is payin for everything but the sperm, we felt it was the right choice to try 3 more IUIs before goof that route.

We did sit down to talk with the financial department about the cost of IVF and we learned I get a teacher discount. Woo hoo! It's essentially 50% off! I was super excited about that part. Because I'm Pcos with crappy insurance IVF is the better option.

So depending on the HSG, we will either be trying IUI 3 more times with Sarah or trying IVF with partner eggs or mine.

He is also going to re-check baseline blood work next time since it has been a year since he did a full panel. It feels good to have a plan. I'm in a much better place about it than Sarah, but she will get there. She is mostly worried about pain from the HSG. She has fibromyalgia so everything is more heightened pain wise. Including the IUIs which she usually cries through. It's the darn speculum that gets her.

On a totally different topic today is day #1 of lifestyle change for me. I hate veggies but am bound and determined to start liking them, or rather pushing past the gagging and learning to eat them anyway! I'm taking metformin and provera to help with periods...so now it's time to get my body ready, so that if I do get to attempt to experience being pregnant, I will be ready. So far....I'm hungry! Lol.

FWIW, I love veggies, but I do know many people who don't. You may do well by adding them into foods that you won't notice them in. I think Jerry Seinfield's wife wrote a book on it. Good luck!

Make veggie bags! I cut up carrots, peppers...anything! Also....good luck with the RE! 50% is a great discount!

It sounds like your meeting went well. Having a plan always makes me feel better. At least then you are moving forward with a purpose and clear cut directions. I agree with pulling out all the stops. It might seem too aggressive to some, but sometimes that is the best route to go.
