I intro'd back in November when my RE started talking donors, but we ended up doing another cycle with my eggs in January, which was a BFN.
I think we have decided to go the donor embryo route. I had a second opinion (with R.MA NJ) today and the doc was great and confirmed that we probably have an egg quality issue and maybe a slight sperm issue as well (my husband has slightly low morph,3% strict Kruger). He had lots of great ideas on where my last three cycles went wrong and what we could do differently to improve them. Unfortunately realistically, we can't afford to cycle with them after paying for three cycles locally OOP. If we ever could afford another fresh IVF, I would definitely put them at the top of my list.
Monday is my consult with FI.RM, which is where I think we will end up going. We looked into the NE.DC, I like their success rates but I don't agree with all of their requirements (they won't treat gay couples and require patients to be married for three years) and I don't feel right giving my money to an organization that holds those beliefs. Plus they are about twice as expensive as FI.RM and require a home study.
Even though there is no doubt in my mind that we could be successful with IVF, who knows how many cycles it would take. Right now it makes more sense for us to pursue some other more affordable options. If donor embryos don't work out maybe we will consider some other options in the future, but right now I am excited to start our new path.
