Starting to feel like a slacker...

I'm 28 weeks today (for you mobile bumpies) and we have not finished cleaning out the nursery, discussed names or looked at picking up a few outfits for this LO since the seasons won't really match even if it is another boy. Oh and I need to order the crib still but that's not as big of a deal right now. Maybe I should start working on some of this since I will only get to 39 weeks before they do a RCS on me. Sooo 11 weeks. That's it.

  • I hear ya! I am 30 weeks tomorrow and the baby's room is filled with furniture and bathroom materials (due to the remodel my DH is doing), we have not purchased any furniture, and I have not bought a single thing for the baby. I guess I should be more freaked out, but I figure it will all get done either before or after she gets here.

I got my new double stroller the other day and put it together because I was excited. I only got the stroller now because it was part of the great trade in at BRU.

  • You've got time. Plus, time tends to slow to a crawl in the last few weeks - or at least did for me with DD. You may be glad to have something to do!

I have a 1 year old, there's always something to do!!

  • Definitely not a slacker if you have a one year old to chase after. I'm sure you will get a rush of inspiration to cross a bunch off your to do list. I feel like everyone expects us to have the name picked but we aren't going to decide until he is born. You can do a lot in 11 weeks :)
  • We are in the same boat! I have 11 weeks and some change until she's here and all I have is a name.
  • We haven't even started the nursery. We close on our new place hopefully next week and are in the process of hiring contractors for a remodel that we are praying can be done by May. Until then we can't paint or order furniture. I feel so incredibly overwhelmed, this is the first time I've wished I had another month til LO arrives.

  • I'm not much further than you. And I have no excuse because I'm not currently working. But I just don't have the energy to get anything done! But you still have lots of time! :)
  • All we have is a crib and a mattress, and one of those Sophie teething toys that we found on sale.  That's it.  No name, no clothes, no other furniture, nothing.  But I got my registry done at least. My excuse is I'm waiting to see what I get at the shower at the end of the month.  That should give me 4-6 weeks to get the rest of the items.

  • Yeah, I understand! I have 10 weeks left, and have done pretty much nothing. DH finally put her dresser together, but not the crib yet. Her room is full of boxes. I did wash the car seat cover this week, pretty much the first thing I have done! I am starting to finally get the motivation to start moving on all of it. I want to be completely done and ready for baby by 35 weeks (we'll see..) so that only gives me 5 weeks.. Don't know that it will happen by then!

  • I feel like a slacker also! I won't have a nursery though but I have none of her furniture or "gear" yet.  If we manage to move out of the inlaws before she is born which I doubt will happen she might get a nursery but it won't be painted but hey... I'll get the stuff eventually...or I like to tell myself that!

This is me too, though I am working, just not full time. There's still so much to be done around the house but I feel like I'm reverting back to 1st tri levels of fatigue so it is painfully slow. Plus, there are some things we can't do until after the showers. I've been telling myself that there's still lots of time left but then I look at my ticker and it gives me palpitations.

You do have a one year old, though, so don't be too hard on yourself!

  • You've still got plenty of time. My nursery is still full of unpacked boxes! We are buying the crib and dresser this weekend, so I guess my slacking time is over. :( boo.
  • meh - I'm in the the same boat, and I refuse to stress over it. i figure LP can sleep in a laundry basket for however long. my parents did this with my older brother for the first 6 months of his life, and he survived to tell the story. LO can wear diapers and the few onsies we have until the season changes...really, all that stuff is for the adults not the baby.

as long as you feed, clean, change, cuddle, and have a sleeping area baby will be just fine.

i'm trying my hardest not to get caught up in the social convention of "stuff."

  • If it helps we have 2 infant seats that my great nephew can't use a few toys and like 1 nb outfit !!  I am so head slacker at the moment !

  • I think you're in better shape then me....at least you have a list of what needs to be done ;-)

30 weeks today, might be pressured into an induction @ 39 weeks due to GD depending on further scans/NSTs

and the only reason we are half done naming this team green baby is because we will use DH's name if it's a boy

oh well.....today I'm planning our veggie garden instead of thinking about LO. does getting a prenatal massage on Saturday count as preping for baby? that might be all I get done this weekend. my house is a mess after two sickly weeks with colds and a stomach bug so I need to do something about that first....

  • I'm 30 weeks and we still have to paint the nursery and buy furniture. We also have to clear out her room of all the crap we dumped in there when we moved in a few months ago. I keep the door shut on that room at the moment. Too much stress!
