Measurement at NT vs dating US

Did your baby measure differently at your NT scan vs your dating ultrasound? At my 6 week scan, baby measured exactly 6 weeks (which was 4 days smaller than it should be based on LMP) so we changed my due date. But then on Monday the baby measured 12w2d, when it should have been 11w4d based on the previous measurement. I should still go by the dating ultrasound, right? (Last time, DS measured exactly on track for both scans.)

  • I went ahead and changed my ticker for the bigger dating :)

  • See what your dr says - the little ones can have growth spurts that change things quickly. My doctor won't change the date unless the measurement is off by a week or more. I think I've read others on this board say the same.

  • I think they usually say the early u/s are more accurate because it gets harder to measure as you go along. I'm kind of surprised they adjusted your due date in the first place for only 4 days. Guess its up to your dr now?

  • It is normal for baby to measure off a little bit.  Our's has at every ultrasound. Sometimes behind a day or two, sometimes a head a day or two.  You just stick with your EDD as far as "how far along" you are.  My OB will only adjust your EDD if you are measuring off by more than 7 days.

  • My EDD went from Sept 11th to Sept 4th at NT scan. Said it was up to my doctor to change it though. I couldn't base off LMP because that was in early November, so it's just been a guess based on first US.

  • Yes, but I haven't had my NT scan yet. Mine isn't until next Thursday, however I had a follow up u/s last Thursday to follow up on a clot behind the placenta at about 9 weeks 4 days. Still waiting on a call from Dr to review results. But at my 5 week 2 day ultrasound i was measuring a week ahead. Dr didn't change due date unless it's more than a week difference. At my ultrasound last week I was 9 1/2 weeks and the u/s estimated my measurements at 11 weeks. But the tech did say they usually go by the earlier u/s for dating. Still no word on changing EDD. It's annoying and will be keeping an eye on it as I get farther along since I will have to schedule rCS. But in your case I would do as your dr says and wouldn't worry over a couple days difference.

  • They weren't going to adjust it, but I have long cycles (35 days) AND my birthing center kicks you out at 5 days late AND I went late last time. So it was important to me that I not be kicked out of the birthing center based on my LMP EDD! Does that make sense? I was just surprised to see the baby jump so far ahead at the 12 week measurement.
