LO not drinking a lot

I am currently in the process of weaning LO. I cannot get him to take more than 2 oz of formula at each feeding! A few times he has taken more but for the most part its around 2. I am currently feeding him every 2.5-3 hours. I dont think its the formula because even when I BF him during the day his feedings have become so short, max 5 mins total. He seems to eat the most at night. Im worried because his daily intake is less than the 28 oz my doctor said he should be getting. My mom said some babies just dont drink a lot of milk.. apparently my niece was never a big fan of milk.
What do you all think?

Brody was born on September 23, 2013 at 6.33am weighing 8lb 14oz.

    My first daughter was not a big drinker. She may have maxed out around 24 ounces around 6 mo and then that went down we started solids. DD2 takes over an hour off and on to drink 4-6 ounces. She used to down 6 oz in 10 mins but she is sooo distracted now. Her last bottle of the night I give to her in her room bc she doesn't drink it otherwise.

    Lc I saw last week said older babies nurse more frequently for shorter durations. Maybe try giving him 2 oz at a time and see how that goes? Are you weaning? I think it was you that was saying that. If so, my lo only gets 2 oz at a time at a weighted feeding so maybe your lo is just used to smaller feedings and has to adjust.

    Is this a regular thing or just happened on one or two days? Because my little one some days takes 36 oz and some takes 24-26. So really depends on their mood, if they are distracted, etc.Also starting solids - her formula intake went down since we started. Mention it to your pediatrician if you're concerned though.

    This. It definitely varies day to day.
     When I went back to work he reverse cycled. He would barely eat all day then he wanted to eat all night. Maybe he eats better at night because there are less distractions.?.
