Coming soon: Social groups!

Exciting news about a new community feature!

Coming soon: Social Groups!

What are social groups? This feature will allow members to create personalized groups, invite-only groups and private groups on The Bump.

There will be three types of groups users can create. Social groups can be 1) public; 2) invite only to post but visible to all; or 3) private - invite only to post and invite only to view.

One thing to note: Social groups will not be moderated by The Bump, but it is expected you follow the same community rules while in the groups. Private or not, we urge you not to share any personal information.

Look out for this new feature next week!

  • I don't get it. Is it another board or is it some private thread on here?

@elmoali is just mad she won't be able to mod this

This is what I don't get. I could create a social group, make it public, and be a total asshat and the bump couldn't moderate that? Weird.
Also, on these private boards there could be personal information shared that could then spread elsewhere. It a recipe for disaster

  • Worst idea ever.
  • Isn't this what Facebook is for?! Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.
  • Hate this plan. Hate.
  • I mean, really?

  • It looks like they've already made up their mind on what they're doing...Her post had a "already decided" vibe.

Normally with big companies like The Bump, they decide on things way in advance before they tell their customer, clientele, etc. I'm sure they're graphic designers and computer programmers have been slaving away at this concept for months now.

^^^^Yet TB will still be down while they implement this whole shenanigan

Normally when something changes in a website- maintenance, updates, they need to take it offline for a while- people might receive error messages, etc. In order to avoid that they take it down.
Or, if it's a database change, they need to take it down for a period of time until the database change is completed.

So yea, that also fortifies the idea that they already completed everything- they're just waiting to put it all up.
