April 2014 Moms

Anyone else insanely TIRED or feeling guilty about anything?

I sleep 10 hrs a night and often need to lie down midday.  If I am sleepless at night then I sleep all am.   I work from home so staying motivated is VERY hard.  I am almost 32 weeks and it makes me feel so guilty and lazy.  Anyone else experiencing this?  I think this makes me feel the most guilty- especially when I see mamas who go to work all day long and come home to cook dinner!

Re: Anyone else insanely TIRED or feeling guilty about anything?

  • I've been having more and more sleepless nights.  I wake up sometimes to go to the bathroom and then it takes 2 hours for me to go back to sleep.  Yesterday I was so exhausted that I fell asleep at 9:30pm and slept the entire night until 6:10am.  I can't even remember the last time that happened.  I guess I was that exhausted.

  • That is what happened to me @LBStewart my husband actually woke me up and then was up for 3 hours UGHHH
  • I've been really tired too and feel guilty for using my PTO that I could cash out once I leave. These days, sleeping in is worth more than $.

  • I feel guilty too, I am so extremely exhausted all the time. Literally. I wake up then 2 hours later I'm tired. I feel like a lazy perso
  • I'm sleeping on the couch now since it's more comfortable than my bed. The only thing I feel guilty of was eating a donut for dinner....

    donuts > vegetables  :/

  • I feel super guilty when SO starts going on cleaning rampages and my body just cannot keep up. I feel like he thinks I'm just lazy and don't care, but vacuuming is a workout for me and going up and down the stairs makes my feet and back ache so I can only do it so many times in a short period. So when i sit and rest (and bump) it just looks like I'm wasting time on my phone.

  • haha- that is how I feel too @sking72  I don't think they really get that we are not exaggerating with this exhaustion!  You can't imagine it till you go through it.  I just wish I was more motivated in m work!

lol @kriztyn totally donuts>vegetables another source of my guilt!
  • Yup! This is me. I'm exhausted usually by mid day and lie down for an hour or two, then start cooking and cleaning. I'm much more energetic at night for some reason.

  • I called into my boss this morning saying I was going to work from home today (normally I just do so on Fridays).  I had a crappy night's sleep and my body feels like hell, so I felt like I'd be doing everyone a favor if I stayed home instead of being a complete grouchy mess.  Still, I felt guilty for not hauling my butt into the office.

    But not *that* guilty.
  • My poor DH works 12-hour shifts and does chores before going to work and on his weekends.  I feel horribly guilty over this because I know I should be helping with everything, but with all the pain I'm in... I just can't.  I'm on my feet for 15 minutes and I want to cry, and there isn't a whole lot I can do from a sitting position unless I figure out how to roll my computer chair through doorways without hurting myself more.  Even then, I still can't do the dishes or cook, or vacuum (which really needs done, stupid ice melt getting tracked everywhere...).  Just... ugh.  :-<

  • Yup I'm so exhausted and my house is a wreck. My DS has decided this is a good time to cut down to only one hour nap once a day. I let him watch tv more than I ever thought I would because I'm just so tired.
  • I've been more and more tired recently, not as bad as during the first trimester, but definitely sluggish.  Monday when I got home from work, I just wanted to sit on the couch and watch a little TV before starting with dinner (usually he sits when he gets home and I get stuff done even when I want to sit, too).  DH wanted dinner, but we still put the TV on.  When it was finished, he was wondering/complaining when dinner was, then wondered why I was dragging my butt around and crabby.  Yesterday, I needed to get dinner started right away in order for him to get to his martial arts.  He stayed in the kitchen with me, kept asking if there was anything else he could help with, and we got a ton of stuff done (it helped I was a little less exhausted).  I asked if that was in response to Monday.  He said it wasn't, but I do wonder...

You ARE growing a human... perhaps he could start making YOU dinner and you get to relax and watch TV.?  Just a thought ;)

  • I work from home as well and I can definitely relate! Each night I think "Tomorrow I will get up early and work hard all day and get this, this, and that done". Then I wake up tired and lazy and find myself still in my pajamas at 2pm with very little done. It is scary because I really do have some large projects to complete before LO is here. I just can't seem to focus.

  • I work from home as well and my lunch consists of a daily nap...usually more than an hour. I only get dressed when I have a meeting with clients otherwise it is yoga pants and a hoody... And dinner??? A lot of take out, soups, cereal... My kiddos are ready for real life again :)
  • Kriztyn - my husband's idea of "cooking" is making eggs.  :))  I asked him to turn on the grill yesterday and he ended up needed my help to get all three burners lit.  =D>  Anytime I ask him about cooking, he says that he doesn't know much about cooking and it tastes better when I make it.  However, he will willingly say this to others, so I do believe him.

However, I HATE cleaning dishes, which he readily does, so I'll give him that.

I feel super guilty.  I don't care about work so much, I have enough good will there to do whatever I want at this point but at home I feel guilty.  Hubby is still recovering from a broken arm, works full time and runs our side business... I can barley manage the dishes, he usually has to help with that too.

This is what I'm guilty about. I hate using the tv as a babysitter, but my two year old has so much energy I just can't keep up with him and playing on the floor with him is just too painful/uncomfortable.
  • How do you get 10 hours of sleep?!?!?!?!?!? I am insanely envious. Yes, always tired.

I only feel guilty when people tell me how jealous they are of me to stop working. Trust me, if I felt comfortable enough to keep working I would rather do that.

Don't feel guilty that you aren't working anymore! You've gotta keep those babies baking as long as you can :) that is a job in itself
  • Called in "sick" to work today. I can't do 8 hours on my feet anymore, I can't even get a good nights sleep. My boss won't listen to me when I say, "I'd prefer to only work 4-6 hour shifts from here on out" and instead likes to give me the most hours in the store :( I feel guilty, but rainy 8 hour days at Starbucks are hard enough as it is, let alone THIS pregnant. I'd quit if I didn't NEED that disability pay.
  • Thank you @waraz89, I appreciate your support :)
