I was like this early on before DD started STTN. I was so on edge and anxious about the fact that she was going to wake up again soon that i never allowed myself to settle down. I would just try to get to bed as soon as she went down and be at peace with the fact that i might be up again soon. Now that I know she likely wont wake up till morning, I sleep a lot better.
No advice, but I am right there with you. I try to sleep when DS naps, but his naps are so short these days that I am expecting them to be short and putting pressure on myself that I need to fall asleep now and then it just doesn't happen.
So there is a breathing technique I use that my therapist taught me when I was 17 and I still use it and I am 34.
Breathe in for 4 counts breathe out for 8. Do this slowly and controlled, count to yourself to get the right pace. Don't let your mind wander. While doing this relax your body from toes to head. So consciously relax your toes, feet, calves, knees, move up your body. Once you get to the top of your head allow yourself to sink into the mattress.
Hopefully I explained this right and it helps you.
i can fall asleep at hte drop of a hat but my husband has troubles falling asleep. Lately he's started listening to some meditation chants on his headphones before bed and it has really helped him. Just make sure you can hear the baby or your DH can - when my DH puts on his headphones, the house could implode around him and he wouldn't hear.
I have the opposite problem. I'm so sleep deprived I fall asleep all over the damn place. Usually I pass out in the glider while he nurses in the MOTN. Usually when I come around again he is asleep on the Boppy nowhere near my boob. Car rides put me out, too.

This. Occasionally if I have to get up with DS in the MOTN to change his diaper or rock him back to sleep I wake up "more", but I'm typically so freakin' tired I fall asleep while he's nursing.

Yup, I fall asleep while he's nursing all the time. It worked much better when I was bed sharing, but he never moves much on the boppy. It just makes me giggle when I come downstairs over an hour after I went up. Good things DS works nights or he would wonder what the hell I am doing.
