Going for 2nd round clomid? Loss mentioned...

Well started first af since D&C but it is awful, but hopefully can move on:( my question is( and any give your opinions!) I get pregnant easy but miscarried 3 times. Dr wants to do clomid and trigger shot again..in April/May but isn't clomid for not ovulating or trouble conceiving? That doesn't seem to be my problem. Staying pregnant is. Do you guys think the clomid is worth it? Or would you guys just try natural with progesterone supplementation.

Hmmm...did you mention earlier that your doctor had suggested that your losses might have something to do with your releasing immature eggs? (Apologies if I have you confused with someone else). Is the clomid supposed to help with that?

@Davie813 nope that was me. He said that , but also said the reason for my miscarriages were unknown and last couldn't be tested. He said at this point do clomid hope two or three eggs will be fertilized and hope I carry one. So I was thinking is it helping or just try my luck naturally like first two pregnancies. All 3 miscarriages were different types.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but couldn't the losses be due to age and egg quality, especially them having chromosomal issues that there is nothing we can do about? I'm not familiar with Clomid personally, does it help with egg quality at all? If not, I think I'd lean toward trying au natural again given that you seem to not have issues with getting pregnant.

These decisions are so hard to make since none of us want to waste the precious time we have. Would there ever be a way that you would do IVF with PGD testing to help determine the best quality eggs? I know all this has been so hard on you and I'm hoping you can find success soon. Thinking of you!

Oh, I see. If the strategy is to boost your odds by having 2 or 3 eggs fertilize, are multiples a possibility? Did you discuss that?

@privateone that's what I was thinking old eggs or something and I'm wondering how's clomid gonna help ...@Davie813 I brought it up and he said well let's hope two or three get fertilized because one will probably only work anyways...I thought was kinda an off handed remark. I ovulate and get pregnant easy...just had ds 2 yrs ago...

Sheesh--that _is_ an offhanded remark! I definitely see your point about clomid seeming like an odd strategy because ovulating doesn't seem to be your problem, but if you're ok with the possibility of multiples, I actually wouldn't dismiss the idea out of hand (since it would only be your second round.)

If it really is an age issue with no fix (and I say this as someone who's 40 next month--right there with you!) fertilizing more eggs can only increase your chances that one is good. If it _does_ have something to do with releasing eggs before they're ready, perhaps it really could help?

I think@PrivateOne's suggested course of action sounds much more effective, but if that's not an option it doesn't seem like this would hurt, and it might help....

Anyway, I hope you get some answers from people who know a lot more about clomid than I do.

Well my husband wants to do one more round because he is hoping for twins( we wanted 3, before mc's happened) and weird or not it's true I would have a better shot the more is fertilized. I probably do one more round then...go natural and save in case we have to do something more invasive.

Well last time I did clomid I had 3 good follicles with 50 mg of clomid. I know the risk of twins..was ob nurse before becoming sahm:) my H is just saying it wouldn't be a bad thing and we would accept multiples:)

@hooligans4 thanks needed it:) ..I think it's harder for me too get excited this time around because I have taken the last loss hard...they all hurt but the betas gave me false hope:(....

I don't post here much but I'm kinda in your situation. I had 3 mc last yr in 5 months, 2 were trisomy babies. I started seeing a RE and got all the testing done, everything is fine. I'm now on injections with a trigger and TI. The way my dr explained it to me was he wanted more than 1 egg because it's basically bad luck I'm having because of my age and he really thinks it's possible to get preg. He said this course of treatment doesn't increase my chance to get pregnant but does decrease my chance of mc because of multiple eggs. I do ovulate every singe month just like you. My Dr didn't recommend Clomid for me, but if you are getting 3 on 50mg that's awesome. Good luck!

@pintobean39 ...love your name! That makes sense , I think that's what my re was trying to say too with the twin/triplet remark...just not well...he did call mine bad luck too..I'm doing clomid with ovidrel trigger!...good luck to you too:)

My RE kept saying "someone your age" the whole time I was talking to him. I told my husband I was about to come across that desk if he kept saying it. I told my OB about what he said, he said yeah sometimes we mean well but it just doesn't come out right.

@pintobean39 Yeah he kept saying that to me also ..your age, woman your age, as old as you are....wanted to choke him really...:)... They better get use to us oldies...lol...he told me it was bad luck, but couldn't really say it was my age because I had my son less than two yrs ago so he conceded I could be 20 and having the same problem. Decided we will do one more round of clomid to see what's happens...praying it sticks!

I told my RE I heard 40 was the new 20. He just laughed.

I'm sure "our age" increases the chances of having a chromosomal problem. My OB said to just keep trying until you get a good egg. I told my RE, I'm tired of having a mc. Yes I did have a MC in my early 20's at 14 weeks that I'm sure it was chromosomal also but they didn't test. It can happen at any age but it does increase the older we get. At this point there has to good egg somewhere in there so if I can get 2 eggs a month (I'd rather 3) then that increases my chance of finding that 1 good egg.

My thoughts exactly!

my ob said to wait for golden egg. I got pregnant with ds first month, no birth control and he was first pregnancy ever at 39...so I know it can happen!:)
