DS did awesome yesterday! Playing with his friends and then having to leave, would usually cause a meltdown & a scene (especially when over heated).
While DD was nappibg and being watched by my mom, DS and I went outside to play with his friends (biking & blowing bubbles). When it was time to go...he left! Said goodbye and simply went home. Yesterday was a good day.
DS (29mos) has been soaring at his new daycare. We switched him to a smaller, newer school at the beginning of the month. The smaller class size has been a God send. He sits during circle time, participates in the art projects. My son never waved but has been waving since day 1 at the new school. They wave goodbye to everyone who leaves the room. The new school also encourages potty training. No action yet but he likes pulling his pants down, taking off diaper and sitting on the potty at school and at home.
He has also been doing great at speech therapy. He said "more" "pop" and "up." He is also nodding his head "yes" in response to questions. He has "NO" down pat.
The last few months have been non-stop stress and worry about him and his development. The last couple of weeks have been encouraging to say the least. I feel like he is "waking up" if that makes any sense.
I don't know if it's a coincidence with the daycare switch and speech therapy...but something is working. So this week, we will celebrate!!!
My sis got married in Hawaii last week and we attended (6 nights on Kauai and 2 on the Big Island- that's my aw it was wonderful). DS did great with all the travel and complete upset of his routine. He did play a lot of electronics during travel and dinners, he was the only kid. Now that we're home he's been fine with limiting them again.
He loved all the activity and sights. We were in the car exploring all but 1 full day. It was rainy for the first 4 days but we still has fun. He loved drinking coconut water straight from the coconut, playing in the sand and water where it was safe, checking out the canyon (he even demonstrated some fear of the heights and stayed well away from the edge on his own), checking out the tidal pools (there were sea turtles within a foot of us, his favorite was the red pencil urchin though), the volcano. It was really great trip and he declared it "the best vacation ever."
Of course when any one asks what his favorite part was he'll say it was the silly (old school) song DH played on the iPod while we were driving around Volcano National Park. He thought it was hilarious.
H's doing really well being back in his routine. I thought the transition back would be harder for him but he's taking it in stride.
DS2 rode his bike this past Saturday! We have adaptive pedals for him and even though we had those last year he was not interested in even trying. He cannot steer yet but how exciting that he not only wanted to ride his bike (tricycle) but that he pedaled by himself!
DS sat, in his chair, for dinner for nearly 45 minutes on Monday. Like whoa. He ate a TON of favored foods, and even tried a carrot. It's the first time I've truly enjoyed a meal with him in a very very long time.
I'm hopeful that when we start OT, we'll see more of these days. I'm also happy that his ulcer is apparently getting better and maybe some of the avoidance behaviors due to the pain are subsiding.
Our son walked today! He has been in physical therapy since last summer and today he took his first steps unassisted! Mommy couldn't be prouder. He went from not walking at all to going around the entire therapy room this morning on his own. Blown away!

I have a few, sorry for paragraphs...per usual on the iPad. Shes still rockin it at preschool! When I picked her up yesterday her hair, which is long, blonde, curly and hangs to her butt was done in a beautiful French braid. She is one of 3 girls in the entire building (there must be something to that whole 1:4 autism ratio bit LOL), so I think the therapists were just having fun with her. Its pretty cool though to see that she let them do that, she cooperates with hair brushing at home but its not her favorite thing. Monday was speech which she also enjoys, and it was the BEST waiting room experience there weve ever encountered. For some reason she loves to run in circles and roll on the floor in that waiting room in particular and I always dread it. This time however she ran over to the little table they had set up and started playing with the toys in a shockingly appropriate manner. She did lay down once on the floor but got up when redirected. Then when her therapist came out and said "Hey A do you want to come play with me?" And stuck her hand out, DD said "Yes!" And grabbed on and headed off with no issue. This was a kid who in December had to be walked back to the room by her parents and then cried half the appointment. I love progress!!
Not SN-related brag: Baby girl #3 was born on February 17th. I had to be induced, but the induction went really smoothly. DD1 and DD2 are so excited about their new baby sister:) I'm still trying to figure out how to change my ticker, and I'll try to post a pick when I have a chance.
It sounds like a great week of progress finally seen for everyone!
DD went a big poop in the potty this past weekend and tinkled in, well ok BY the toilet, per asking a few times in the past few days. At least she is getting the big picture of it all.
DH: what do you want? N: Go 'own 'airs (downstairs) AR: why? N: ayening ayme (signing time) AR: it's too cold down there N: ayening ayme eee! (Please) AR: it's too cold. Let's watch up here. N: uh ear! (Up here!)
He then ran to the TV. DH and I looked at each other and I asked "did we just have an actual conversation with him?"
I also think it is hilarious that he now adds a Please to his requests if they are denied the first time.
DS's school psych called me to reschedule his FBA, BP, and kinder repeat meeting. She said the BP is primarily preventative and just in case at this point. She said she observed him before we left during indoor recess and she said he was listening, participating, and following directions.
A day late, but something I never thought I would hear--ds asked dd to leave him alone. Lol. She is so interested in everything that he does beyond just highly motivating activities. She's driving ds a little batty because before if he wanted to play he would just engage her with whatever activity they both enjoyed and he could hang out alone when he wanted. He will get used to it I'm sure.
Wow, I'm late this time because I was OOT, but what a great week for everyone!
Last night DD1 asked if she could sleep in bed with me -- I'd been gone at a conference Mon-Wed, and she said that she'd been lonely and missed me. DH is now traveling, so I let her. It was very sweet.
We also had another successful dentist visit today -- DD1 was particularly stoked about the chocolate-flavored toothpaste for the polishing. No cavities and smooth sailing. I can tell she gets more and more comfortable with each visit. Today Sophie was talking to the hygienist and letting the hygienist know that she thought her cheek was getting pulled too far away from her teeth or if her gums got scraped. Not combative or scared at all, she was very cooperative; but definitely giving input on her experience and less passive than she typically is.
