Re-intro from a long time TTCALer :)

Hi ladies!

I hope it's okay if I re-intro here again. I have participated in the past on this board a little sporadically for various periods of time. I've mainly participated on TTCAL but find that I fit into a number of categories - I'm also AMA and have had some very brief stints on PGAL that have never lasted more than a few weeks, so that's why I've bounced around a bit on different boards. I remember some of you from my past participation and others I hope to get to know better.

I know in the new blurb about newbies it talks about not introing during the start of your first treatment cycle because of the high possibility of pregnancy. But I hope I'm in the clear since I'm not exactly new, and I don't plan on announcing a BFP here if I were to get one since I know I haven't been participating recently. I also think it's frankly very unlikely for my treatments to result in a sustainable pregnancy even if I do get a BFP given my DOR diagnosis and age. But please let me know if you'd rather I wait to reintro.

Mainly, I just want to find a place to connect again with moms who are also struggling with some of these issues. And since this is the best place for those of us that are already moms I thought I'd pop my head over here again.

My background is that I have one 4 year old son and have been trying for a second child since Dec 2011. Since that time we've gone through 6 losses, all very early - the latest being around 8 weeks.

I've been to two REs, the first in Feb 2013 who advised even though all my other blood tests were all normal range, my AMH (less than .16) and my age (41 this May) meant that trying IVF wasn't going to be adviseable.

We kept trying and had another loss and a longer stretch without any BFP. So I saw a new RE this past November and he reran my tests and to my happy suprise my AMH went up to .76. I think due to either the vitamin D or COQ10 supplements I was taking even though both REs advised they had no proof that either would have any impact.

The new RE advised that based on my overall egg score we could give IVF with my own eggs a try. We also were able to purchase private health insurance that will cover treatment which wasn't a possibility for us until this year. While I am so very grateful that we are able to start this journey, I am also trying to strike some sort of balance between being hopeful but realistic.

I just stopped my BCP last night and will start stimming on Thu with 450 iui / day of Gonal F and 150 iui / day of Menopur. My first monitoring appointment will be Sunday morning to see what the meds are doing to me. I also have a cyst that is on my left ovary that I'm trying to not be concerned about, but it definitely seems to be interfering with them either finding or there actually being follies on that side. But based on the results of my blood tests, my Dr. felt it was fine to continue with the cycle, so we are. I know time is of the utmost importance for us, so if he's okay with it, I am trying to trust that, but of course I just wish it wasn't there and didn't have any interference.

I hope it's okay if I join you ladies again! I definitely need to touch base with some ladies that are already moms and going through treatment since the treatment part is all new to me!

Welcome, I'm pretty new as well but given that I'm AMA as well I'm interested in how your cycle goes, we might go down the IVF road as well.

I think you are welcome, the warning is mainly for people who have NEVER been here, who just woke up and wanted another child and are super likely to get BFP bc just started. Ex: we just had one who intro'd on first assisted cycle, like a few days before O, blew up our board during tww, and is now gone on Nov14 bmb w her BFP on 1st ever clomid assist. Your situation is a little different (and by little- I mean a lot). The other ladies can correct me if I'm wrong- but in the meantime, I pray your stay here is short- SIF is long and painful but the ladies on here are amazing and supportive.
Awesome you get to use your own eggs and about the insurance!!!

Everyone dealing with secondary IF is always welcome here, the reason for the newbie post was because there were a lot of people coming in- blowing up the board like mamarazzi mentioned, with posts about themselves, and not offering a word of encouragement or support for the other ladies on the board. Everyone here tries to be super supportive, but obviously we're not here just to GIVE support, all of us need support as well. I'm sure that won't be an issue with you

Welcome, I hope your stay is brief! Having insurance that covers IVF is amazing! Many of us have been thru multiple IVF cycles, so I'm sure you'll find plenty of help/support here. Good luck!
