C-sections

Bruising

This was my second csection and with my first I did not bruise and was not as sore as I am this time. I am bruised (black, blue, purple) from about an inch above my incision to all the way down south. I'm not agile enough to check to see if it continues. It is also hard around the incision. Is there anything I can do to ease the bruising and maybe even the soreness?

Re: Bruising

  • Did they have to push to get the baby out? The anesthesiologist warned me that they were going to have to push on my stomach to get her out and I would feel pressure. I felt nothing. But I did have some bruising above the incision and I assume this was the reason. All I can say is to take your pain meds and especially Motrin around the clock. It will help with inflammation. I'm 6 days out and bruise is gone- soreness returns if I over do it or if I'm late taking my meds.

  • I remember one of the doctors talking about baby's shoulders. I'm more bruised on my right, which is where that doctor was. I also carried low and am wondering if the bruising is from a little extra effort of getting baby out. I'm 5 days out, but haven't been as easy on myself as I should be.
  • I didn't bruise at all with my first and bruised a ton with my second. My doctor said it was nothing to be concerned about, just from pushing and such. It wasn't too painful for me though, and went way within a couple weeks.

  • Went to see doctor and I have a hematoma. He is keeping an eye on it and already the bruising is going away and the hematoma is shrinking.
  • Yeah, I had severe bruising with mine. So much that the blood didn't reabsorb. A spot on each end of my incision opened up and then it drained. Fun times. Keep a close eye on it looking for signs of infection. You'll need a round of antibiotics if you get one.
