Brynlee’s Birth Story:
Monday February 17, 2014 I came home to Reva doing dishes and making me salmon and pasta for dinner. It was the first day at work multiple people mentioned that I was starting to show. We just found out that we were having a girl Wednesday the 12th.
After eating salmon and watching some TV with Reva I was able to convince her to let me watch the bachelor, which she quickly got tired of and went to bed. After the bachelor I went to bed around 10 pm.
I woke up at 1:43am with liquid through my underwear and pajama pants. I changed and put a pad on and went on google to search “leaking liquid when 18weeks pregnant” google told me not to worry and that most likely Brynlee was kicking my bladder resulting in me peeing. I decided not to wake Reva up but when she got up to go to work around 5am I would check to see if I was still leaking. When Reva got up at 5am I got out of bed and went to the bathroom. I had leaked through the pad my underwear and my pants again.
I told Reva I was leaking and she tried to call the Doctors office but they didn’t open until 9am. She called work and let them know she was going to come in to unlock the door and then have to leave to take me to the doctor. Then she found someone else who was able to unlock the doors for her and by 5:15 we were on our way to the ER.
Once we got to the ER they took me in almost immediately drew my blood put in an IV then we waited. We finally saw the doctor around 6:45 and he got us into get an ultrasound just after 7, it felt like we were finally going to get some answers.
During the ultrasound we saw Brynlee’s heart beating and it was still strong at 160bpm. Reva and I looked at each other and started to cry because she was okay! The ultrasound tech quickly took several pictures and sent us back to the ER. The ER doctor came in said baby is healthy but my amniotic fluid was low. He informed us he didn’t know what that meant and that we needed to go up to Labor and Delivery. Of course the nurse got confused told me to get dressed and gave me directions to our normal doctor’s office and pulled out my IV. We told her that the doctor said to go to Labor and Delivery. She went out to ask him quickly came back in told me that I needed to keep on my hospital gown and that she was supposed to leave in the IV and that transport would move me to Labor and Delivery.
I was transported up to Labor and Delivery they quickly got me into triage and things started happening quickly. They did an exam listened to Brynlee’s heartbeat and tested the fluid coming out of me. Through four different kinds of tests all confirmed that it was amniotic fluid.
Within half an hour the doctor set down the Reva and I and explained the Brynlee wasn’t developed enough to live without the amniotic fluid and we needed to discuss having a baby. We both cried felt confused and completely helpless. Our beautiful baby girl was about to be forced into this world before she was developed enough to make it.
I was moved into my own room and starting 10:30 am Tuesday morning until 10am Thursday morning I was constantly given drugs to force my body to dilate enough to deliver Brynlee. The doctor kept trying to break through my cervix to get the process started but the pain of that was unbearable. They offered and epidural but I refused, I wanted to feel her leaving my body and didn’t want to be numb to any of the process. After two full days of trying to get labor to progress the doctor came in and explained that because my water had broken over 48 hours ago chances of me developing and infection were increasing and we needed to deliver her. After a long 48 hours I finally agreed to an epidural and asked to be able to get up and walk around a little before receiving it. I was up on my feet for a full 45mins just moving around when I felt what I though was her come out of me. Reva ran and got the nurse. She asked if I was comfortable having her deliver Brynlee I said yes. She went to look and it wasn’t Brynlee who arrived but my placenta. We waited for the doctor and within 15 minutes Brynlee had arrived.
I told them if she was still alive I wanted to hold her the second she came out if not then I wanted to hold her after she was cleaned up. Sometime over the stress of the last two days she had passed. The nurse cleaned her wrapped her and a blanket and put a purple hat on her and then Reva and I got to hold our daughter and let her know how loved she is. I thanked her, for saving my life and for arriving before the epidural so that I could be fully there in this moment.
Brynlee protected me and gave her life for me. There was a 50/50 chance that I was going to have to be rushed to surgery after delivery if the placenta didn’t come so I hadn’t gotten to eat anything since Monday night but my little angel Brynlee came out with the placenta.
I spent all day Thursday being pumped full of antibiotics and got released from the hospital Friday. The nursing staff made up a memory box for us (I still am not ready to open it) and a local funeral home is cremating her so that we can at least bring her ashes home.
Brynlee I know you are out there now watching over us. Your mommies love you!

Our IUIs

Our IVFs:
IVF #1 my eggs November/December 2013: Cancelled IVF due to poor response
IVF #2 my eggs/Manada's uterus January/February 2014
BCPs and lupron overlap Stimmed: 1/22-2/2: Bravelle and Menopur (dosage ranged from B300 and M150 to B375 and M150 to B300 and M225)
