This is a weekly thread
for runners who are due June 2014, that is posted on Mondays. All who
run--or who want to start running--are welcome, regardless of mileage,
pace, ability, size, shape, or terrestrial status. This is a place to
talk about running while pregnant, training, runs, races, gear,
recovery, nutrition, and whatever else we can think of.
Anyone who posts here
regularly should feel free to start the thread on Mondays if it seems to
be missing. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ How
were your runs this week? Lay it on us...GTKY: What is your favorite running distance?
Re: ~*Born to Run Junebugs Check-in*~
Mon- 45 min run/walk (10 min run/2 min walk)
Tue- 60 min walk
Wed- 50 min run/walk
Thurs- 60 min walk
Fri- 45 min run/walk
Everything felt just fine, but when I got out of the shower after my run of Friday I could not stand on one foot on my left side or I would get hip pain. I took Sat and Sun off workouts and took my dog for a 20 min walk each day. It seems like the more time I am on my feet, the worse the hip pain becomes. The 20 min walks even hurt it. So I guess I am stuck on the bike until further notice
My favorite distance when not pregnant is probably the half marathon. Training doesn't take up too much time and the race isn't too long or too short.
How were your runs this week? Lay it on us... This week went well - I hit all my planned runs for the week, and my 5-miler on Saturday went really well. We had perfect running weather (high 40's at the start, mid 50's by the finish) and it was sunny and beautiful. It was nice racing "for fun" and enjoying the course a bit more than I usually do when running for time. I finished in 51:47 which put me at around 10:12/mile pace. I am more than happy with that!

GTKY: What is your favorite running distance? Probably the half marathon. It's enough distance to make me feel accomplished afterwards, but doesn't suck up my whole life with training like the marathon did.
Thank you!
GTKY: What is your favorite running distance? I'm still a newbie here. I like my 4.1 & 4.7mi distances. It is long enough to feel worth it but not so far to be completely draining. My furthest has be 7mi and I was just having a great run that day (prior to pregnancy). I'm at the point now where I think I need to cut back to the 5k distance b/c my recovery sucks now.

Runs/exercise last week were okay. I am definitely feeling my motivtion waning, but trying to keep it up because I do feel better the more active I am. Anyway, my week in workouts looked like this:
Mon- rest; 30 min powerwalk at work
Tues- Ran 2 miles, walked 2 miles; 30 min powerwalk at work
Wed- 45 min treadmill incline walk; 30 min powerwalk at work
Thurs- rest; 30 min powerwalk at work
Fri- Run 2 miles, walk 2 miles; 30 min powerwalk at work
Sat- nada- chasing my kids around and a nice afternoon nap, much needed
Sun- cleaned house (vaccuuming, 2 bathrooms, copious laundry), lots of errands and shopping. I had good intentions of hitting up the gym but was too tired when all was said and done.

My "sweet spot" for training runs is 5-6 miles. I feel like I just start to feel warmed up after 4 miles, and 7 or more feels like getting into long run territory for me. As far as race distance, I'd also agree and say the half. I have a harder time pacing for shorter races and always always always go out too fast. LOL.
i had a great week of running and working out. we did a timed 1/2 mile at my gym and i finished in 3:30! i was super proud of my preggers self

Last week was a rough week for running. I had really bad insomnia and was so exhausted that it was hard to run. I did manage to exercise and just swapped runs for walks some days. I ended the week feeling good and had 32 miles. Less than I have been doing, but I'm ok with it.

My "runs" were mediocre at best. I am lucky to jog a half-mile before the pressure on my bladder is so heavy and uncomfortable that I need to walk. I am doing a 5k on Sunday that should be very interesting! I know I shouldn't feel embarrased but I do. I find the hardest part right now to accept my body slowing down! I always expected I'd enjoy the day when I had an excuse to take it easy- now here I am being nuts! lol
