NT Scan & TEAM BLUE? PIP

Had my NT scan today, everything looked normal, HB of 166, and I'm 12.1weeks measuring at 12.5. They will keep the same due date of 9/8. So my ultrasound tech asked what we thought we were having and I said I thought it was a boy, DH thinks girl as well as the whole family and the Chinese gender chart. So I started to think it was a girl too. The tech used two different ways to check and showed us on the screen how it's showing a boy. She has been a tech for 10 years and only has been wrong 3 times. All which she said was a girl and ended up a boy in later ultrasounds, never wrong with guessing a boy. So TEAM BLUE it is. I'm excsatatic being a FTM, I always wanted a boy first. So I'm thinking of special ways to tell the family since everyone is wrong haha.

Not to burst your bubble but I would still wait for a later us to confirm the sex.

Congrats. Glad you're excited....but I'm under the very strong impression that it is very, VERY difficult (read: not likely) to determine sex this early. I wouldn't go buying blue yet

Yep, that's exactly why I haven't told the family yet, just had to tell someone.

I would wait too. My us tech wouldn't even guess at my NT scan during my last pregnancy. I found out the sex at my anatomy scan at 16 weeks. 12 weeks is super early.

All good, still am thinking of ways to tell them when the time comes since I didn't tell them any special way I was preggo since I had recently MC in nov. I totally agree its early, but either way I'm still excited!

The only way to guess gender at an NT scan is the angle of the dangle, boys & girls have protrusions at this gestaional age. Did she give you a side view of the penis? Boys point 30 degrees to 90 degrees up and girls are usually parallel to the spine. Either way sounds like she has a ton of experience, my MFM guessed correctly for my daughter, he didn't give us a guess this time because we are team green. But angle of the dangle guesses are usually 70% correct.

@chusum yes, she did both views, and she was explaining to us that girl parts usually angle down and boys angle up which she was showing us on the big screen tv in our room, she has her screen on her machine too, that's why she guessed a boy because it was angled up. And with both views showed her most likely a boy. It was so cool to see. Thanks for that article very interesting.

Yes 50/50 chance, still exciting either way to me! That's why in my post title, it says TEAM BLUE.? With a QUESTION mark. Any one of you would be excited to hear an educated guess, especially going through this experience for the first time. If your wanting to find out. Yes, I'm excited to tell family in a special way, first grandchild on my side, last on DH side. I know the facts I'm only 12.1weeks, I knew going into this appt it's still early. I'm still going to wait to tell my family later after another ultrasound to confirm. Either way still puts a smile on our face, I will be happy with either a boy or girl. No one will kill my vibe, I'm all about being positive!

OP - I am in the same boat. Just had my NT scan yesterday (at 13 weeks) and doc gave a very unofficial guess that it was a boy, but it was really quick and she didn't give us reasons or show us what she saw that made her suspect. Hubby and I are waiting for results of our Verifi test before sharing outcomes with anyone.

OP, I wasn't trying to rain on your parade. Of course we are all anxious to find out the sex of our babies whether it be at 12 weeks with a blood test or when baby is born. Personally, I would not want my tech to give me a guess based on an us at 12 weeks. I would be agonizing over it until I found out for sure. I'd rather just wait until they can be more certain. I understand others feel differently. I hope you get your boy.

I was 12.6 weeks at my NT scan last week and the tech said she would not even try to guess if I'm less the 13 weeks... Oh well, 6 more weeks to go till my anatomy scan

The doctor that walked me through the whole NT scan said 80% chance it's a boy. I'll find out for sure in 7-10 days. He told me he'd never guessed boy wrong and only 2 girl guesses turned out to be boy. I'm 12 weeks 5 days according to NT scan.

We just had our NT scan yesterday and will find out the results next Friday. We also did the Harmony genetic blood test which will tell us if we're having a boy or girl. The anticipation of waiting drives me crazy... from one appt to the next. Hopefully, everything will turn out normal/okay.

Has anyone else tried the Harmony test?
