Intro and question about Dairy Free

Hi ladies! My beautiful baby boy, Kellan James was born in September 2013. I have been active on my BMB and lurked here since my son was born. He is EBF and we have been successful with few issues. Looking forward to interacting with everyone!

So, talk to me about dairy free. Just took Kellan to the doctor with blood in his stool. We agree with the dx. It has taken so long to come to this bc I already don't eat it frequently. How long after you cut it out did you see improvement in symptoms? Did disposition improve? Gas decrease? Bowel movement decrease? Anything else? TIA!

  • You might want to check the mspi thread from yesterday, and check with the food allergies board if you haven't already.

  • Within a few days of cutting obvious dairy I saw a decrease in gassiness, fussiness, spitting up. He still had green, frothy stools with mucous and occassional blood. It can take 3 to 5 weeks for the milk proteins to work their way out of both your systems, so give it some time. You may also need to cut out soy if you don't see improvement after 5 weeks. Be sure to remove all dairy, including hidden dairy. Here is a good link listing ingredients to watch out for:

HTH and GL! Feel free to check in on the MSPI thread or PM me if you have any questions.

  • Thank you!
