Bad Things Happen in 3's

Not to be morbid this Monday morning, but has anyone else ever proven this old saying to be true? In the last 12 hours:

1) my mom informed me that a friend of the family's son murdered his girlfriend (out of the blue).

2) my neighbors house got raided by cops and the medics rushed a non-responsive neighbor out on a stretcher (I know he's into drugs).

3) I had to go to the ER for random chest pains.

What the actual fuck.

The second week in December, a great friend of mine and her boyfriend were killed by her ex husband who then committed suicide. It was so tragic and unexpected. The next day I started bleeding and shortly after my miscarriage was confirmed. Then that weekend there was a huge blow up fight between my family and DH and I and because of that we didn't end up making it to DHs grandma's Christmas party (she's 82 and lives far enough away that we only see her a couple of times a year.)

Definitely proved the rule of threes in my book.

My bigmamma would always say that bad things happen in 3's. The month she passed we lost two other close family relatives within a three month period.

I too believe that things happen in 3's... My family in general believes we are unlucky though, when something bad happens my folks always say "It's the Campbell luck". When I married DH I said hopefully your good luck rubs off on me, but actually I think my bad luck rubbed off on his family. Since we've been married his dad lost the job he'd had since he was a teenager, they had to sell their house and his dad had to have emergency stomach surgery.

As for your question - yes, I believe in the rule of threes. I usually breathe a sigh of relief when the 3rd bad thing happens.

I also believe in the threes. It's weird, but I also believe that the threes are in some way always related. And I'm always waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I also believe it. One year I had one of my students die, my uncle die, and someone else, I just can't remember at this time, all die in 1 year. Then this year we have had three staff members that had suddenly lost loved ones this year. One lost her son in a car accident. One lost her niece and her neices children to an angry exboyfriend, and the nurse lost her husband from diabetic complications.

It happens often... I always notice it. I'm a big believer that things happen in threes (good and bad)! But yes, sometimes I question if I'm looking into it and making something the third... Ya know? Either way... I've heard it!
