Care Package Items

My good friend who recently moved is having her baby in about a month. I want to send her a new mom care package. What would you send/liked to have received? So far I'm thinking Mothers Milk Tea, Earth Mama nipple butter, a restaurant gift card, her favorite lip balm, and/or a book.

A nice hand lotion the sanitizer and extra hand washes dried out my skin
  • I feel like as a new mom you have most of the basics already. What about something out of the box like an iTunes gift card so she can order a movie/TV show for those looooong nights ;)

  • Wine. Candy. Some nice lip balm. My lips were really dry in the beginning for no apparent reason. I like the water bottle idea.

  • Maybe see if there is a business that does the pre-made meals that you just stick in the oven. I usually get the meals and give them, but maybe you could do a gift card and she can pick out what she wants? I donno, but not having to cook is a life saver with a newborn!

Do you know for sure that she's planning to BF? I feel like gifts in regards to BF'ing are something that can be taken wrong if the mother doesn't plan to do it. KWIM? I think the rest are great gift ideas. I second chocolate. This might sound weird, but some nice soft socks for the hospital stay.

She's definitely planning to BF. She asked for input on things I thought were nursing essentials. Thanks for asking about it though it would be presumptuous if we hadn't chatted about it!

maybe some of the post partum recovery things she may not even realize she wants....Dermaplast, advil,  witch hazel, tucks, nice water bottle, giant overnight pads, nice body lotion,

My friends gave me what she called a "whohaa healing kit" it was one of my favorite shower gifts.

Can we agree to just call it a vagina from now on, though?

don't you call it a vageen and peen?

  • Personally, I prefer the term "va-jay-jay."

Chap stick, any food or snack that she loves, a bottle of wine (if she drinks it), maybe an easy to make meal idea? Something easy where all the ingredients are there for her and she can throw it together? I was given muffins in a jar once that I loved. Put everything in the jar in a bowl with some water, etc. and bake.

  • Oh and COFFEE! If she drinks it. Some days coffee is the only thing keeping me alive.

  • I could care less who calls it what, but if someone got me a vagina healing kit for a gift I would find more of an "I feel so sorry for you" gift rather than a fun "been there done that" gift. If that makes any sense...

@cashingn2 I took it as you're a bit bored today. It has been a slow day here on the bump ;)
  • Lotion (my elbows got chapped like woah), chocolate, midnight snacks (granola bars, cheese crackers, anything easy to eat that doesn't have to be refrigerated), water bottle, and a nice lightweight robe for those days you cant be bothered with a shirt.  Or pants.  You're welcome neighbors!

    :D
  • I'm doing the same for someone I know who's pregnant.

I've included disposable nipple pads, Medela lanolin, Mother's Milk tea, hair ties, lotion, lip balm, nail file, hard candies, swaddle wraps, leggings for her, diapers, wipes, baby formula, bottles, pacifiers, pacifier wipes, a blanket, a journal, pens, a rubber ducky and "What to Expect"...

Someone did this for me and I'm sorta kinda just paying it forward. I promised myself I'd do this for the first person I knew who told me they were pregnant. It was the nicest thing anyone had ever done for me & I just remember feeling so thankful!

  • I did this for a dear friend last month  it included lots of what others are mentioning.......i also did a mini breast care package inside with a few different breast pad brands for her to try before she bought her own (i ended up with boxes of different ones cause I hated them all), boobie ice packs, nipple cream, nursin tank. I also put in some items for LO that I didnt  end up having enough of - premie sized onesie (since nothing fit LO and she wasn't that small either) burp cloths, bibs (My LO goes through them like mad), some cute baby leggings.
ALso, my GF loves candy so some treats for her.
