Quality wool/cashmere

I'm trying to invest in some nice, long-lasting wool and cashmere sweaters. I know cashmere is expensive but I'm thinking it will even out somewhat since I will only need a few staples and they will last at least a few years (rather than buying a ton of cheap stuff and trashing it after a handful of wears). I've gotten a few cashmere sweaters from Boden that are nice, but I was wondering if anyone else could recommend any stores, particularly if you've worn their sweaters several seasons. Any other suggestions for long lasting materials/pieces would be appreciated too!

    I was curious about theirs. I have other stuff from there I like. Their cashmere is less expensive than a lot of places, so I was hesitant. I'll have to check it out.

    From what I've read cashmere from China is lesser quality that cashmere from Europe but there is also a large price difference. Unless you are looking for something that will last a lifetime, I would try cheaper (but not dirt cheap). Lands end has a pretty impressive return policy.

    Good to know. The historian in me longs for the days when clothing was a major investment, lasted multiple lifetimes, and was left in wills. While it would be awesome to have something that would last forever, I'm not likely to want to pay the price tag. A few years is definitely better than most things you find today. I was wondering if the Lands end prices were too good to be true. I guess I can test it out.

    I found a LE cashmere sweater at a resale shop for $8. I thought the quality was pretty good. It just didn't fit.
