Trying to get motivated after a long, stressful week and a trying weekend. Sleep has been a joke lately, and I am sleeeeepy. But hey, today can be a good day, right?!
DS has an appointment at the WIC office. I have to find a Fed-Ex drop off location and mail my broken phone back. I have to go to the grocery store and buy Desitin and Paper Diapers. I've got to find a new belt for my vacuum cleaner....
And all I really want to do is climb back into bed and sleep until next year.
I am on vaca! DS has been down for a nap for a couple hours. I'd like to say I took advantage and did a ton of productive things...but I didn't. I went back to bed myself! DS is going to DC Weds.-Fri. so I have time for productivity. Now I'm eating some dark chocolate cheerios and enjoying the quiet!
Busy day here! DH has passes to see a recording of StarTalk Radio (Neil deGrasse Tyson's podcast), so I got to work extra early and am taking a short lunch so I can catch a bus and meet him after he gets out of work and we are going to see that. We will be getting back crazy late and I will still have to function at work tomorrow, and my boobs may explode since I'll be going at least 12 hours without nursing DD... But I'm super pumped for our nerd date!
We've had a productive morning. Got all of DS1's math, phonics, and Bible work done. DS2 even cooperated and did some phonics work today. Changed three poopy diapers so far. One load of laundry done. The girls had baths. Meal planned for tonight. And after yesterday's cleaning spree in the kids' rooms, I was able to finish up today by actually sweeping under beds and in all of the corners for the first time in probably a year.
Now I'm wasting time and drinking some tea while I mentally prepare for the lunchtime rush. The baby usually starts melting down while I try to get everything prepared and then as soon as they all eat they will go down for naps. Then the house will be quiet for an hour or so. Yay!!!
During naps I'm going to work on some stuff for the baby's birthday party this Saturday. After naps we head to basketball for the boys, so I've got to get dinner in the crockpot so it will be ready when we get home tonight.
This post was good for me because it helped me mentally organize the rest of my day. Thanks!
The good news is that DD is napping well right now without being latched onto me. :::knocks on wood::: The bad news is that she is so tucked out b/c she has been sleeping fitfully for the last two weeks and last night actually woke up for I don't know how long and babbled and played and laughed and rolled around in bed before finally going to sleep again. So... I'm on my second cup of coffee kombucha (DH brews it and its the only caffeine I can handle sustainably while nursing) trying to make up a grocery list for when she gets up. Add me to list list of tired moms.
I am finally going to make my first ever meatloaf tomorrow with beef liver. I really hope that the soaking in milk trick works to get the beef livers to taste not horrible mixed into the meatloaf???? Anyway the livers have to defrost today and the kitchen needs to be cleaned. DD HATES when I do the dishes and no amount of wearing or anything will get her to calm down about that. I can put her in her high chair and hand her clean dishes to play with and that works for a minute, so I will be doing that later.
Just a lot of cleaning today and a little prep work for my weekly cooking session tomorrow on less sleep than I can manage on, that's all. If I stick my laptop in one of the kitchen cabinets I can piggyback off of the free wifi for one of the restaurants across the alley from our apartment, which is what I am doing, and I was just on here looking up this meatloaf recipe so I thought I would bump for a minute. I had better do what I can before DD wakes up. You guys have a great Monday! later.
Noooooo!! Sitting on a bus outside the Lincoln Tunnel. Just sitting. I have just over two hours to get to the Brooklyn Academy of Music for the show. As long as I get to Port Authority by like 7:15, I think I'll make it. Otherwise, I'll have spent $23 on a bus ticket just to spend another $23 to turn around and go home again. :-( Say a prayer to the public transportation gods for me!! :-p
Thanks Drea! We are finally moving! But given the sea of buses around me, it's looking like Port Authority is going to be a big ol' clusterf*ck. And the girl in the seat in front of me was getting really freaked out at the prospect of being stuck in traffic in the tunnel. The rest of this ride should be... Interesting.
Well damn, I had an incredibly busy day. Met with the principal of one of the schools at which I am a coach, then met with the other literacy coaches in my district that are 6-12 and planned a presentation on UbD to be shown on Wednesday, then I worked on a unit plan for Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery" that some of my 6th grade teachers will be doing...
Did I mention that we put in an offer on a house? And that the owners countered, and we accepted? So we are currently under contract. So amazing, and so stressful!
I DID!! And since DH is press we go to go backstage after. We got to meet Neil deGrasse Tyson, Bill Nye, Eugene Mirman, Mayim Bialik, Michael Ian Black, and Paul Rudd. So totally worth the sleep deprivation I am going to experience tomorrow! ;-)
@puck1182 I am super jelly that you met Paul Rudd!!
Also, been meaning to ask you since you love Jim Henson, do you remember that show Dinosaurs? It used to be on TGIF back in the day. Anyhow, it's on Netflix and DH and I were watching some and we determined DS is the baby dinosaur, lol.
@Drea92 - Yes! I actually watched a few episodes on Netflix somewhat recently. Unfortunately, it did not hold up as we'll for me as other Jim Henson stuff, but I was pretty entertained that Kevin Clash was Baby. Definitely more than a hint of Elmo in his voice! But is think that was before Elmo got popular. I think Clash took over the character from Richard Hunt somewhere around '86-88 and Elmo-mania didn't really start until somewhere around '96-97, so he could get away with duplicating the voice while Dinosaurs was on the air.

They so suck. DS has these two huge bumps on the bottom but they just.won't.cut.

I only got to watch half before DS got antsy, but still, glorious!
