Hello Ladies
Two part question, need your input pls. This may have been ask but didn't see it in tread.
1. My son is 5 weeks & I have had issues with him latching since birth (long story), so I have been pumping breast milk and feeding. This worked fine for the 1st month, but now I am finding I am not supplying enough for feeding. So I purchased Emfamil newborn formula. But I do use breast milk the majority of the time! Does anyone else supplement when breast milk runs low???
2. What do u find to be the best formula for ur newborn? I find my newborn to have minor issue keeping down the formula, spitting up at times and gassy. This may be the norm but this is my 1st child, so help lol
Re: Supplementing breast milk & formula..help!
I think it's fairly common to supplement. Spitting up is normal. Projectile vomiting is not. If he is vomiting then I'd look at switching, possibly to a soy formula as it could be a milk/dairy intolerance. If it's just spitting up a little, it's possible he is just over full. Do you lay him on his back after he eats? Because the little flap at the top of the throat doesn't fully develop yet, and so the food can come back up the throat, leading to spitting up. Keep him inclined after feeding and see if that helps.
Also, I'd like to kindly suggest a little less text speak and a little more English. It makes it much easier for us to read your posts.
The text speak hurts my eyes!
Have you tried working with a LC to resolve the latch issues now that he is bigger?

Point 2) best discussed with pediatrician. I was using enfamil NB for a few days to supplement when I needed to.

I asked you a question before I answered anymore.
Also, @BMReid asked if you had tried any of the above mentioned techniques to increase your supply. We are still waiting for that answer. We can be rather helpful if you provide us with some more details, in non-text English speak.

Actually there were some helpful post. These forums are here to get a other mother's perspective on situations. Not to take the place of a pediatricians advice. It's the childish post that make this pointless. I guess others have more time on their hands.
It is hard to help you when it is hard to understand you.

I bet she feels sorry for our husbands too.
Everyone who offered you advice has been here long enough to know the "point" of this forum. Maybe you should have called your pediatrician for medical advice and while listening to the hold music, taken a second to look around here and see how things are done. It's actually EXTRMELY helpful when you treat this like a conversation.
Example:
"I think my supply is low so I have been supplementing with X formula but I'm having issues A, B and C. Is this normal?"
"Yes those are normal, have you tried this and that to increase your supply"
"Yes or no I have/have not thanks!"
See how easy that would have been?!
Also K BYE!
