LO has terrible dry lizard skin on his legs and arms and I have tried TONS of coconut oil, Shea Moisture lotion, Johnson's lotion (I know, I know...), limited bath/soaps, even some of my Bliss Body Butter, but nothing seems to work. The pedi recommended I use Vaseline or Aquaphor, but I'm not comfortable using petroleum products on him. Does anyone have any suggestions for severe dry skin? I Googled it and California Baby and Aveeno kept popping up as suggestions from around the interwebz.
I'm going to run to Whole Foods later and see what they have but was hoping for some good trusted brands from you ladies. Thanks!
Re: Natural Alternative to Petroleum Products for Dry Skin?
See link here to the EWG's Cosmetic Database - good research for a lot of products. Also, see here and here for recent studies linking petro products to possible cancer-causing ingredients.
I am very "crunchy" when it comes to chemicals and household toxins, but this is one area that I am not overly concerned about--especially since I know first-hand how uncomforable dry skin is (and probably even worse for a baby that doesn't have the coordination to scratch itchy spots!)
