Quick- pulled pork question

I normally stick the meat in the crockpot with a can of soda. (From a recipe I read years ago) Either root beer, coke or dr pepper. I just looked and I only have a can of sprite and some ginger ale. Think I can use one of those for cooking liquid?
If you don't use soda, what do you use??

I have never used soda. I usually add some kind of sauce to it - BBQ or something.

A cup of broth and some spices and BBQ dauce, I've never used pop, but I don't drink pop to start with really.

Ok, I'll try broth. I usually cook it in the soda, then drain it all, and shred with BBQ sauce. Someone told me to do that years ago and it always comes out so amazing. I'm sure it will be yummy regardless. Thanks!!!
