I've read all of your back posts about rashes, and all the rash sticky threads. I am at my wits end! DS has a flat, dry, almost flaky rash that has been going on for over 3 weeks without improvement.
Background. I spent a very long time discussing with my local CD store and at first we thought it might be ammonia build up because I just got front loaders. Got the rocking green funk out and did an overnight soak on all my inserts. I also replaced ALL of my bg MF inserts with flats and hemp doublers. I then stripped all my covers with first a bleach wash (1/4 cup as directed by bg) and then blue dawn. All of that made zero difference in his rash.
Then I thought it might be detergent build up. I have a lot of detergent allergies so had been using Purex to wash diapers. I stripped with blue dawn again (just in case) and switched the diaper detergent to Ecos free and clear (rec on the pinstripes and polka dots site).
We were using Grandma Els cream, but that didn't seem to be helping at all, so we tried Angel Babies Bottom Balm. No change.
Lastly, I thought maybe it was something he was eating because it seemed worse after he drank OJ. We cut all citrus and acidic foods from his diet and it's been a week without change. NOTHING IS MAKING THIS RASH BETTER!!! If anything, it looks worse.
Weeks ago after talking to the CD store, she has me try changing my wash routine because of the front loaders. I do a rinse and spin cycle first. Then I set the diapers on a heavy duty setting on hot, presoak, reg wash, extra spin cycle. I put two bath sheets in with the diapers to trigger more weight. I wash every other day so I have 2 -3 BG pockets as overnight diapers, and 10-12 (ish) gDiaper changes in a load. Again, I am now using a flat and hemp insert in the overnights and we use 2gcloth inserts per day diaper.
Sorry it's so long but what the he** am I doing wrong?! I've NEVER had rash issues like this before. Or kid is practically screaming every time he gets changed. Even hours of named time hasn't helped much. I just feel so terrible! Any other ideas? Or am I to the point where we should just stick him in sposies and puck up a different cream?
We're Going to be a Family of 5!

Re: Rash help! Please help me!
Try waxelene and see if that helps. If it does, it could still be eczma.
I've never been told that blue dawn was only for non CD rash cream, I was always told to use that. Oops. In the past, I've only stripped because I had a brain dead moment and added fabric softener, so maybe that's why. Noted.
How would I tell if it is a thrush rash? He has his 12 month pedi appointment two weeks ago and she checked his rash and only said to use desitin. I only asked about eczema because my mom has it. But the rash is confined solely to his bum. She did say it didn't look like eczema. But at that point it still seemed like a bad case of plain diaper rash.
I wish I could post a pic, but I'm not sure how to get a good image of healthy skin and rash skin without exposing my son's bits on the internet.
The best I can say is that it is red and not raised, but it feels almost rough- but not bumpy. Maybe a bit hard, but not really? That doesn't make any sense, i know. It does not feel warm to the touch though. It just feels dry, even after using coconut oil and rash cream. We stopped using the creams with every change, wondering if that was actually making it worse. He has spent most of the last several days diaper free even!
Do you think it warrants another visit to the pedi? Could he get eczema just on his butt? He doesn't have it anywhere else, just a bright red circle about 3 inches in diameter just on his bum.
Thank you all for the advice.
