White crib needs flare, but be gender neutral for future kids. Ideas?

My best friend got us a very cute white mini crib for our daughter. I never really own anything white because it just seems boring to me. The crib is so cute, though! I'm just wondering how I can add a bit of flare to it without it looking cheap or sticking to one gender since I plan on using it for future kids. I was thinking of painting her name on the head piece, and then adding names when the future kids are born. I would just like to get some ideas on how to decorate it. Thanks!

  • I'd think about non-permanent things so you can pass on the crib later, or sell it... Or change it up as you get bored!

You can make fleece covers to protect the top railing from teething or do a really pretty/ frilly skirt.

  • Just get different bedding sets? That way you can interchange them with the different kids (assuming you want more) or if you just want to change things up every now and then.
  • You could make or buy some pretty rail guards.  If you have a boy in the future, you can change them out.

Cribs are kind of boring though.  They're basically wooden baby cages.

  • I'd leave it white! I was never a fan of white furniture either, but I love these white nurseries with pops of color. Maybe you can use interesting bedding for each kiddo.

  • We went with very simple bedding but put a lot of decor around the crib on the walls so it brings the focus off of the crib!
  • Leave it white! I have a white crib and love the simplicity and clean look of it. Find cute wall decor that you can personalize to add splashes of color to the room. There is a ton of personalized art on Etsy.
  • You could make a canopy for it. They are very easy and really inexpensive to make! Just type in "crib canopy tutorial" or something along those lines in Google and there are bunches of sites that show you how. :)

  • I would just get some wall decals for behind the crib.  You could also look on pinterest to see what other people have done.  I just found wall decals from Babies R Us, Walmart, Target, or Buy Buy Baby to be an inexpensive option.

Personally, I wouldn't want to paint on the crib since it'll be difficult to sell or use for a different baby (especially if you paint the name).

Crib mobiles could add a splash of colour, as could getting one of those sleep sheeps that attach to the outside of the crib and play soothing sounds (e.g. heartbeat, whale sounds, rain, and ocean).
