Its that time of year again, TAXES!

If you're expecting a refund, what cha got planned with it?

If you've already got it, tell me what you bought/did with it.

My fb newsfeed is flooded with tax post, and people having a good time, taking pictures of their new things.

We have two mortgages, so that sums up our tax refund-boo.

Eta: bonus points for pictures!!

  • I got caught up on things and put some in savings. We bought some random things like kitchen gadgets we really wanted.

  • We're planning on paying off hospital bills, saving, and maybe getting a little utility trailer. Oh and we need a few things for the house.

  • Ours will help cover expenses this summer. DH does not get a paycheck 3 months a year so we put ours in the bank to "pay" DH's missing summer salary. Thankfully we had some already saved and his paychecks are small so we should be set now.

Nothing exciting for us. My husband put the majority in his IRA and the rest is sitting in our checking. We might buy a new couch with it in the next few months. I have my eye on this. We got a lot back this year.

  • It's going into savings for the summer. (I am a teacher.) Depending on how much we get back, we might also pay off our fall vacation early rather than making payments on it like we have been.
  • When we get ours we are planning on getting a new car. Between tax refund, a little savings, and selling one of ours we are hoping to get a decent car without having a loan.

  • We are saving most of it. DH is putting some towards a line of credit he has. We get quite a bit back from all the traveling he does for work.

  • I have no clue if or how much we're getting back. Last year was very different for us - hubby quit his job and started school, I wasn't working for 11 weeks, we had N, moved and rented our house out and now renting another house. Our taxes will be a lot more complicated than normal!

But if we do get a refund, it's going into savings to pay for hubby's tuition.

  • We're using it towards our summer family vacation. We didn't get back as much as last year :(.

  • We get an enormous refund since my husband claims single and 0 (i guess he likes giving the government an interest free loan for the year)so we are finishing our basement with the money.

  • We got a ton back because my husband likes to use it like a savings account but pretend we hit the lottery when we get it back. So annoying. But this year we are saving it all because he started his new career in real estate.
  • We got a lot back this year because of LO, moving, and dh going back to school. We will use some for a vacation this summer and the rest will go into savings

  • Taking out $250 each to spend however we want, putting $250 toward LO's first birthday party, and the rest to savings.

We owe! :(( my husband collected unemployment while he finished school so we didn't have federal taxes taken out. We normally got at least a little with having 5 kids. We don't own anything.
  • We payed off debt. Payed off my parents. Bought me a nice desk, bought Ks convertible seat, bought me a Kitchen Aid stand mixer. & Uh...putting some towards Hs $6500 car repair bill. And $1000 into savings. Our refund was pretty much doubled since claiming Kael. ;) I doubt it'll be this nice next year
Ours doubled as well. Woo hoo!!

Ours didn't anywhere near double, but we finally didn't owe!!! Having M only got us 1000....maybe it's our state screwing us with our high taxes again?? I don't know but a little something is better than owing, again
I never really understood how people owe. We always get something back every year. My SIL owes 10,000 every year. Her and her husband work, and they have 3 kids. No clue how they owe so much!!

  • We got a nice return back. 1500 went towards a down payment on our car, we'll also pay taxes on the car, personal property payment, and a car payment with it. We also got Grayson new clothes in the next size up and a new stroller, and I got some new clothes for work. Also hoping to move out if we have any money left over.

Haven't filed yet but I'm hoping it's enough to make me feel less guilty about booking a vacation for just us two this summer to Mexico with friends.

We are also going to a destination wedding in Mexico in may. I'm feeling really guilty about leaving LO behind but it's a adults only resort so we have no choice.

I bought LO a Pottery Barn anywhere chair, some summer clothes, and a little is going towards her birthday. The rest will go into savings.

  • We get a little back for federal, and we had to pay a little for state taxes. We'll have enough to buy dining room chairs for our table we got on clearance a couple of years ago. We will use both when we move into the house we are remodeling in a couple of months.
  • We haven't filed yet. I'm getting anxious though from the sounds of all your refunds. DH and I are in a disagreement as to how to spend it so that's what's holding us back and getting to the accountant with LO. DH said no rush since our money isn't going anywhere,  lol.

  • This thread has me dreaming about some magical tax refund that I get to buy all the things and pay off my car.

Sad that reality is we will owe :(  Im just hoping we don't owe too much.
This thread had me thinking, wtf, not fair! Then I remembered we may pay tens of thousands in taxes each year, but we do get mat leave benefits and health care. I would like a vacation or new car though :(
