So today is my wife's (Ke's) birthday. Since we both really enjoy
the casino, we did what we often do for celebratory events, which is to
go to the casino last night.
So there we were, playing our slots. I had
my cell phone sitting next to me, when suddenly a guy runs by and does a
grab-and-dash on my cell phone. I immediately jumped up and chased
after him, screaming at him to stop. He
ran out into the valet circle, where he had a "getaway car" waiting for
him, driven by a woman (his girlfriend?). He jumped into the car and I
managed to jump in after him before he could close the door. He told
the woman to drive and they started to drive off, with the door open,
with me half in the car and half out of the car and my foot dragging on
the ground. I am still screaming at him and hitting him with one hand
while holding on to him with the other hand so I don't fall out the car.
They drove for about a quarter of a mile (top speed probably only
10-15 miles per hour) before they finally stop, he hands me back my cell
phone, tells me "it was nice to meet you" and let's me get out of the
car.
This whole event was witnessed by probably 30-40 people.
Ke tried to run after me but managed to run into a chair and banged up
her leg pretty badly. I have no injuries other than a slightly scraped
knuckle (not even bleeding). The valets and parking attendants were
able to get the license plate number of the car, so that's awesome.
So then Ke and I got to spent several hours talking to various law
enforcement personnel (casino security, local PD, Chickasaw Nation PD)
and also having Ke's injury tended to (she has an icky scrape, some
bruises, and is limping a bit) and filling out forms.
They
think they actually caught the guy awhile later, based on what I
overheard on some of the police radios, but we'll see. I can definitely
pick him out of a line-up. The accomplice I'm not as confident about,
but I think I could probably do her, too. What he's probably looking at
is some combination of Attempted Robbery, Vehicular Assault, and
Attempted Kidnapping (or whatever the Texas equivalent of those charges
are). I'm honestly not expecting much to come of it, but we'll see.
So that was our very eventful evening. Before and after, however, we had a great time.
(Also, yes, in hindsight, I realize that running after him and jumping
in the car was completely stupid on my part, because a lot worse things
could have happened to me, particularly if he had a weapon, and at the
end of the day, a cell phone is just not that important. At the moment,
however, rational thought was not exactly happening.)

Re: AW: Can't believe this happened...
I'm glad you're ok!
We're queer. I'm 33, have severe stage 4 endo, and had both fallopian tubes removed. My love ("Manada" on the boards, 32) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tavin and Casey at 21 weeks gestation.
Our IUIs
with @Manada: IUI# 1-7 (December 2012- September 2013) all BFN. Tried natural, femara, clomid, puregon/follistim, clomid and menopur combo, both the ovidrel and HCG triggers.
Our IVFs:
IVF #1 my eggs November/December 2013: Cancelled IVF due to poor response
IVF #2 my eggs/Manada's uterus January/February 2014
BCPs and lupron overlap Stimmed: 1/22-2/2: Bravelle and Menopur (dosage ranged from B300 and M150 to B375 and M150 to B300 and M225)
2/4 retrieved 10 eggs. Endo was much worse than expected. Only 3 eggs fertilized; February 7 transferred two day 3 embryos, froze one. All great condition.
BFP eve of 6dp3dt; Beta 1 (11dp3dt): 110; Beta 2 (13dp3dt): 175; Beta 3 (15dp3dt): 348; Beta 4 (19dp3dt): 2222; Beta 5 (21dp3dt): 4255

New Plan: Reciprocal IVF, me as carrier wife's eggs. Just went through insurance and received partial approval, so my part will go through my IVF benefits and wife's part will be out of pocket. Now just finalizing finance plans to cover the oop costs. Doctors office is in process of moving to a new building so there are no IVF start ups until March/April 2015.
