  • I could not stand the wait. This is my 2nd and today I just found out what we are having. I commend those who wait. You guys are awesome! Do what will make you most comfortable OP.

  • I give big credit to the mommas that can wait! I'm almost 14 weeks and cannot wait to find out and see our baby again. It's our first and were so excited :) every family member/close friend that we've told swears were having a boy... How do people tell that?! I have no idea at this point but I've heard some moms get a "feeling."
  • I've actually been thinking about this A LOT tonight.  We are definitely done after this one (having my tubes tied at my RCS).  We have 3 boys already, and while a girl would be nice, I'm really ok with another boy too.  I thought if I stayed team green this time around, I could avoid any possible disappointment I might have by finding out it's a 4th boy ahead of time.  Not that I wouldn't be excited for another boy, but kinda the idea of having to spend 4 months mourning the loss of a mother/daughter relationship I'll never have.  I figured once they hand me the baby and say "it's a boy"...i mean, no one is going to be sad about that.  But then I thought about how I would take a little boy outfit and a little girl outfit to the hospital, and I would still have to come to terms with having all boys, and having to do that AFTER the baby is here...I don't know.

Your struggle to do/know this just got me very teary eyed. Hugs, just many hugs to you! I can't wait to hear your story!

  • With our first two, we were team green. It was kind of fun and when my labor got really tough, it gave me a little extra incentive (not that having a baby wasn't enough)

With this one, we are finding out. We've done the team green enough. I am also high risk this time, and there is a possibility this will be our last baby...hopefully not, but we'll see! I also need to be able to organize and get the bins of clothes out that I need ahead of time, as trying to do so with two young kids around will be near impossible!

With that said...I've never heard of anyone finding out and regretting not waiting, or  regretting finding out and waiting.

  • We are planning on team green as well as this being our second and last baby.

Part of me does want to find out, but only so I can purge my son's baby clothes/baby boy stuff and temporarily have less crap in my house.

Honestly, I'm not that organized of a person though to NEED to do that right now, so I'll just keep my mess and deal with it later after the baby is born.

We found out at the a/s with DS so I think it will be fun to wait this time :)

  • This will likely be our last and I considered waiting but I've changed my mind.  I have such a strong feeling that it's a girl, we have no boy names in mind and I'd rather just know sooner.  I'm too excited to wait :)  We will do some kind of gender reveal, this time, for just DH and I.  Even if the tech just writes it down and we read it later at dinner or something.  That was the plan last time but we were too excited in the moment and had to know right then and there.

  • My reasons for waiting. Is I'll get more things I really need at my shower, extra incentive for labor pains, no disappointment at sex (I'm a what if, but it could of been) although I truly am happy either way. And also I think there are only so many REAL surprises in life and this is one of the best surprises in my opinion. I also am so so so excited to hear my BF say it's a boy or it's a girl after the baby is born. It makes me cry thinking of it. Good luck! I don't think you'll regret which ever decision you make!
  • We were team green for out first two.  For the first I insisted.  I knew my family REALLY wanted a girl (I have 8 nephews and 3 nieces).  I didn't want to deal with people expressing disappointment.  With our second, we almost found out, but I backed out.  I wasn't sure what I wanted, but I wasn't sure I'd be happy either way.

I'm a HUGE planner.  I felt it allowed me to plan for both possibilities...so I got to do twice the planning.  It also meant our baby gear is gender neutral so it could easily be used for later kids.

Interestingly enough by the time I gave birth, it was the last thing on my mind.  With our first, I didn't check until others were arriving and I knew they'd want to know.  With our second, I didn't even think about it...my husband peeked during one of the cord checks.

  • Yes, we want to know we think we saw boy parts and I think the tech was hinting at that but I'm only 13 weeks, we'll recheck next week at 14 weeks, I feel like it's a boy and I already "know" though.
  • We talked about being team green for about 2 weeks...we just could not wait.  We like to buy as we go and for us, it is just easier to know.

  • Like @ptarma and @Texasgirl81, I am a planner and impatient. I am also a shopper, and honestly, I think the clothes and things intended specifically for boys or girls are so much cuter than the neutral items. I have no desire to wait; in fact, waiting as long as we already have has been torturous. I don't understand when people say they want to wait because they want it to be a surprise; it will be a surprise no matter when you find out. I am high risk, so we are having the Harmony test tomorrow and will find out soon!

  • I am dying to find out what we're having. DH wants to wait but I just can't! He's like "it will he a bigger surprise" I've waited 31 years to find out! I've waited long enough. I've dreamt about the baby three times and every time it was a girl... It's funny because I kinda thought of myself having a boy while I am awake. So we'll see:)

  • Same boat as you. This is #3 and will be our last.  The last chance for a surprise, but it's also nice knowing.  Although this pregnancy is going so fast I'm more tempted to wait...
