Rubbing eyes- update

Morning ladies. I'm looking for some advice...my DS (5 month) has been constantly rubbing his eyes for the past couple weeks. He has all the symptoms of teething (excessive drooling, mouthing on anything he can, etc.) but no sign of teeth, no fever, and his eyes don't seem to be irritated or anything either. Initially I thought it was just tiredness, but he's doing it even when not tired. I plan on calling the pediatrician on Monday but just wondering if anyone else's LO is doing this or if anybody has any advice. Thanks in advance!!

Update: the eye rubbing was getting worse and so often that I brought him to the pediatrician this morning. I just knew something more (than teething or tiredness) was bothering him. Turns out it's the start of a double ear infection. Thank god for mommy instincts!!

  • My LO.does this a lot too. I feel like she does it mostly when she's tired but also when she's bored or mad. I haven't thought much of and was just planning on mentioning it at her 6 month appointment.

  • My LO does it too, both when she's tired and not. She does it a lot when she gets really excited. It can't hurt to mention it to your pedi though, to ease any concerns. Also, just a heads up, teething symptoms can arrive months before you see any signs of teeth. :D

  • I posted about this just not long ago, my DD has been rubbing her nose and face often but it's not the same as the way she does it when she's tired. My first thought was teething though. She doesn't have a fever but she's been a little warmer than usual but still nothing cutting through her gums.
  • Caleb does it when he's tired. It's so cute!

  • Mine does this when he's tired.  I keep scratch mittens on him because even after cutting his nails they are still sharp.

Baby nails are the worst!!! LO scratches himself on accident when rubbing his eyes also. He rubs his eyes when he is fussy. I think it's tired or overstimulated.
  • Mine rubs his eyes when he's tired and they're constantly full of saliva, so gross!
